Placements and Internships

3.5

  • All bachelor's students are expected to undergo and report on six weeks of implant training internships at the end of the third year. Those who are unable to secure internships themselves are provided opportunities by the institute. The college has strong ties and networks with various manufacturing companies and hence internships at places ranging from Cadbury to Cipla to Nerolac Paints are easy to secure. Stipends, however, are not guaranteed. Besides this, the UDCT alumni association and the college's research journal ( called the Bombay Technologist) organises internships for first and second-year students.
  • The institute is itself quite reach-oriented and hence most of the students graduating prefer to pursue higher studies. As a result, the number of students applying for college placements is comparatively less and thus their placement record should not be compared to IITs, say. The college does have a dedicated placement cell which organises interviews from various companies including Glenmark, Merck Chemicals, etc. Some branches have a better placement record than others.
  • The UDCT Alumni Association is quite a strong and well-connected network of present students and alumni which helps to ensure the setting up of various grants and scholarships like the John Kapoor scholarships.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • Once applications have been submitted by the deadline, a general merit list containing the list of all applicants is prepared (the B.Pharma. list is separate) and admissions are granted based on the ranking of the applicant in that merit list. Although seat reservations exist, admissions for such seats are also based on merit only.
  • Students interested in applying for the Bachelor's courses at ICT need only qualify for either the JEE Main or MHT-CET entrance examinations. There are specific quotas for Domicile MHT-CET students and those qualifying via JEE main. Once applications have been submitted by the deadline, a general merit list
  • Technically, there is no specific cut-off and the institute states that all candidates with a  'non-zero' score in the entrances are eligibe to apply. However this will of course not guarentee admission. Competition is definitely firece as seats are limited to around 150 for B.Tech. (all branches), 100 for B.Chem. and 50 for B.Pharma.

Fees and Scholarships

4.5

  • The course fee is around Rs 50,000 per year, the course fees are comparatively a lot less than most IITs, and private colleges and are very affordable meaning that educational loans are almost not needed.
  • For the economically challenged and reserved categories, the college provides fees concessions as well as five or six yearly scholarships to all students eligible to apply.
  • Besides these, there are three open merit scholarships available for all students.
  • No loans are required
