Faizal Ikram's Review on IMS Engineering College

• When I cleared my second year I was too excited for an internship or a training session that my college could provide but alas! there was no such thing. I started finding on my own and landed testing BEL Kotdwar for my electronics internship in which I learnt the basic testing for various telephonic circuits. The same steps were followed after the third year because this college has no such thing known as the internship. I went to MTNL New Delhi for my internship and went through a rigorous training in telecommunication. That is proving to be fruitful for me. 
• For placements TCS was a mass recruiter here but this year they aren't coming. Our CDC cannot fulfill their big fat promises they have been making from past three yaers. They don't even know if there is any company they are going to get us placed in.
• Average package that I have seen in past years is Rs 2.75 lakhs p.a. 

• They are 4 hostels.

• Hostels are good other than the food. The food sucks. Hostel fees is Rs.75,000 for 3 seater rooms and Rs.85,000 for 2 seater rooms.
• PGs are good and cheap. Outside college area is good and residential and you can opt the PGs. An average PG may cost you Rs.6000 per month.
• Quality of classrooms is the same as in schools. My school labs were better. Labs are ordinary. Dining halls is average. Food charges are included in hostel charges. Wi-fi is average. 

• I got into this college through an entrance exam known as UPSEE i.e Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam. My general rank was 33000 and OBC rank was 11555. This is the only way that most colleges of AKTU follow but after I spent some days I came to know that many people were admitted through direct admission.
• I was taken aback by the fact that I went through the rigorous procedure of taking the entrance exam and counselling, making loads of documents for the same but these people admitted under management quota didn't do anything. 

• This college has very heavy attendance to attend the schedule. You need to have 75% attendance to attend the examinations. The class timings for first shift is 8:50am-4:30pm and second shift is 10:30am-6:00pm. After the usual classes you will have remedial classes for an hour if you don't perform well. You can expect classes on Sundays too.
• The teaching method is the same as that of schools. Heavy boring lectures which you cannot bunk without informing to HOD and if fortunate a call will be coordinated to your parents informing your absence in class.
• Overall experience is just average.

• My academic fee is Rs.1,10,000 per year
• Scholarships available are Samaj Kalyan Vibhag Scholarship, Railways Scholarship.
• 10 students in every 100 get the scholarship.
• Loans are a personal choice. They are easily available from BOB,OBC,Canara bank

There is almost nothing that college supports. If you want this extracurricular thing then you have to work on your own.

I came to this college with the plan of joining the theatre but there isn't any such thing. But still with the grace of God I made it big.

Life in general revolves around classes and assignments. You got nothing else to do here.
