  • The internship is optional and is usually done only off-campus. I did an (unpaid) intern from ONGC, Karaikal and learned the working of oil refining plants (for a course of B. Tech, Mechanical Engineering).
  • Some of the key companies that hire for B. Tech are Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, L&T, Pepsi, ZS Associates, Mu Sigma etc.
  • Around 70-80% of the batch gets placed.
  • Alumni network is good across various industries.

  • Labs, Libraries are well equipped, and free Wi-Fi is available for students in hostel rooms at National Institute of Technology.
  • Frequent buses are available to travel to nearby areas.

Academics and Faculty

  • NIT Calicut has Head of Departments, Professors, Assistant Professors, Associate professors, and Ad-hoc faculties who are well equipped to take classes.
  • The number of class hours varies depending on the course being pursued and in usually only between 20-30 hours a week for B. Tech course.
  • Such relaxed classroom sessions provide students with time for other projects, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities.
  • B. Tech is an 8-semester course, with each semester lasting about 4 months.
  • There are 2 tests in between the semester and one final exam.

Fees and Scholarships

5

  • My course fee at National Institute of Technology is Rs. 20,000 per semester, which amounts to less than Rs. 1,60,000 for 4 years.
  • Almost all SC/ST students receive scholarships of varying amounts.
  • Bank loans are easily available.
