Placements and Internships
- I did my internship in TATA Hitachi.
- There are many companies which come for campus recruitment like Toyota kirloskar, Mercedes, Tech Mahindra, etc.
- For Mechanical average salary is around Rs 4 LPA and highest package is Rs 14 LPA. Around 50% placement is there in Mechanical and on an whole the placement figure is 80%. But you need to prepare alot for getting placements because competition is more and in Mechanical opportunities are less.
- In SDMCET alumni are very helpful. They help you a lot in getting placement.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- There are five hostels in SDMCET. Out of which 3 are for boys- Shalmala, Netravati and Narmada & 2 for girls- Hemavati and Sharavati. Shalmala and Netravati are of average quality while Narmada is well furnished. Hostel fee depends on the sharing and Hostel. But on an whole it is around Rs 25000 per year.
- For North Indians the food is quite bad in the college mess. For one meal you need to pay around Rs30.
- Classrooms, Library, Dining hall etc are quite good. But you have to manage with the wifi.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- For getting admission in SDMCET you must have 50% amrks in your PUC.
- Apart from that you must have good score in COMEDK entrance examination and in the counselling phase you can opt this college.
- For taking Mechanical branch in SDMCET you must have below 10000 rank in COMEDK exam.
Academics and Faculty
- Classes are on daily basis and strictly you have to attend. 85% attendence is the requirement but you have to maintain it around 60%. Class timings are from 8AM to 5PM. Regarding assignments and exams college is quite strict.
- Teaching is quite good. Professors are knowlegeable and you can have quality education here.
- Overall experience is good as far as study is concerned but while coming to attendance I think that college is quite strict in that.
Fees and Scholarships
- The course fee is Rs 1.35 lakh per annum and for hostel and mess it is around Rs 50000 per annum. So, on an whole it is around Rs 1.85 LPA.
- There are no scholarship for students as it is a private college.
- If you are not from a financially sound family then loan is required. Getting loan is quite easy as it is a reputed college. From college you need to get a AICTE approval certificate and one Bonafide certificate. With that any bank can provide you the loan.
Clubs and Associations
- Tashan and Poreotix are the dance groups in the college. In Dramatics Pratibimb and Astitva is there.
- Insignia and Fiesta are the tech festivals in college.
- In SDMCET you will enjoy alot.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Completion of PUC in PCM sector is mandatory, or Diploma in mechanical engineering is also entertained (with passing marks). CET / COMED-K rankings are considered on listing cutoff rankings, including caste and students family income. Management seats are also available here. CET cutoff for mechanical engineering is around 9000 for GM category.
