Placements and Internships

5

  • I did a Sales & Marketing internship with Philips India. The stipend was Rs 65,000 per month.
  • Usually Sales & Marketing companies. FMCG giants and other reputed companies turn up. Lately a lot of Supply Chain/Ops roles have been on offer. Finance gets a notch lesser roles compared to the IIM A,B,C's. HR gets the best roles considering the niche course on offer and the best in the country.
  • Median package of around Rs 18 lacs per annum is what I have seen across the years. It's only bound to increase in the coming years. The lowest package that I know of was Rs 12 Lacs per annum. Most of the chunk got a package from Rs 15-19 Lacs per annum. Highest package was Rs 48 lacs per annum.
  • Alumni network is known as the XL Mafia, and they are extremely helpful in all parts of the world. You will find a very few companies without an XL Alum at their highest level.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

5

  • There are 4 Hostels in the campus.
  • Hostel are the best as it is a residential course. And outside you won't find better place to stay. And who would want to miss out on the amazing campus life!
  • Mess food as always is pathetic. (Well, not pathetic, but I never liked it)
  • Classrooms are good for lectures and presentations, Library is one of the best (but who uses it?!) Mess is a great hangout place, especially during the match screenings. WiFi is good. Altogether the infrastructure is one of the best you will find in the country.

Academics and Faculty

4.5

  • Official Class hours from 9AM - 9:45PM, with 6 sessions of 1.5 hours spaced out. Students won't have all the sessions. On an average 3-4 sessions a day.
  • We were lucky to have some of the best professors in the country. Method is classroom, case based with assignments on various topics, projects (lot of live projects as well), and in-class presentations.
  • The best two years of my life! After 5 years of work, I was really fortunate to have spend my 2 years of MBA at XLRI.

Fees and Scholarships

3.5

  • My fees was around Rs 18.5 Lacs for two years inclusive of everything. And the lodging and boarding expense which is included in the same, part of which is refunded as per the actual expenses incurred by the student committee run mess and other infrastructure costs.
  • There are a few scholarships on offer, not sure about them as I didn't avail any of them.
  • I took a loan. Loans are easy to get with the brand of XLRI and at an attractive rate. SBI, CBI, Canara Bank, etc gives loans on campus itself.

Clubs and Associations

5

  • Having experienced them and being one of the Committee Secretaries myself, I would say it is really run in the best of abilities by the students with a lot of activities all around the year.
  • Valhalla, Ensemble, XL-IIMC Sports Meet, Maxi Fair, HR/IR Conferences, Social Entrepreneurship Conference, Alumni Homecoming, etc etc. The list goes on.
  • One word: Awesome. You're in for the best 2 years of your life. Make the max out of it.

Academics & Faculty : Academic rigour of XLRI is one that truly tests your mettle. You push your limits and it seems your weekdays are defined by deadlines for submissions and quizzes you need to prepare for. Eventually you get used to the fast pace and fall into the rhythm. It's bitter sweet, like the burn you feel after a good workout. 80% of the faculty lives up to the XL standards. They are impressive and tough and make your life miserable with their expectations. A Few suck. Most popular method of teaching here is case based. Pre-reads are given out in abundance and everyone strikes their unique balance between academics and fun. Overall, XL challenges you to become your best self.
