Placements and Internships
- Initiated last year, one each for Humanities, Sciences and Commerce, it has instilled heart-warming enthusiasm in students to interrogate their environment and present new experiments and ideas. Some of the winners for 2009-10 are: Ritika, Upasna and Neha (Arts stream) presented “Begging: The Popular StreetCulture in India”. Megha Bahl and Preeti Mann( Commerce stream) presented –A Study of Impact of Socio- Economic Factors on a Student's Decision to Pursue Higher Education.
- Courses offered-- BA Programme & BA (Hons) Applied Psycology, English, Hindi, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sanskrit BA in Business Economics (BBE), BCom, BCom (Hons) B.Sc Life Sciences, Physical Sciences B.Sc. (Hons) Botany, Chemistry, Microbiology, Physics, Zoology MA English, MA Political Science, MSc. Chemistry with fees of INR 24000 approximately.
- Nine companies have visited the college for recruitment drive so far, some of them being Evalueserve, S&P Capital IQ, Ernst & Young, KPMG, Smart Cube and Genpac. The highest package offered this year was INR 5.24 lakhs per annum. Six companies are scheduled to visit the college in the month of March. I am doing my internship at DU express and NGO called Umeed with no stipend given. Taking about Gargi alumini i recall of Alankrita Sahai - model and Miss Diva Earth 2014 Huma Qureshi - Actress Sonal Chauhan - Femina Miss India Tourism 2005 , Miss Tourism 2005, model and actress. Many students got selected in KPMG and WIPRO.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- We do not have hostel facilities in college because the college is situated in a reputed well based area of Delhi.
- A lot of PG facilities are available to the students. The PG's are very well maintained incuding 3 seaters 2seaters and 1 seater as well.
- The cost of room ranges between INR 15000-20000 depending on the facility provided in the rooms.
- College canteen is very hygenic. Gargi college canteen is famous for it’s three dishes. The students enjoy chowmein as a snacks. And when to have a proper meal i.e; the naan paneer; the dosa sambhar is the hot favorites food. The quality of food is fantastic and we have good infrastructure facilities.
- All the class rooms and laboratories are well-equipped. The whole campus is Wi-Fi enabled and this facility is available to all students and staff members. A newly built state of art auditorium and seminar hall with a seating capacity of 750 and 150 respectively.
Academics and Faculty
- I must say no one can beat Gargi college in academics. NAAC committe has given A grade to Gargi college this year(2016). That represents 8 pointers out of 10. Classes can be held at any time between 8 A.M to5 P.M depending on the time table. Each class is of exact 55 minutes as the next class teacher is always on time.
- This year DU started CBCS system in which teacher has to assign 2 projects including the class test and then examination has different grading pattern.
- The method of teaching includes presentation and digital teaching through projectors and face to face explanation of difficult topics by the teachers. This helps the student understand the topic thouroughly and precisely.
- Attendance is strict in the college. A minimum of 65% has to be maintained.
- The seniors are very supportive .
- Various cultural events are held.
- The over all experience is great and fun.
