Placements and Internships

1.5

A major drawback of the University is the placement rate. The placement rate is currently at the scale of 2.8, only 25% of students are placed on an average with a package of 10 LPA. Due to the newness of the university, it has such a low placement rate. The highest package offered is 23 LPA and the lowest is 9 LPA. Apart from this, some of the courses don't even avail the opportunity of placements. Dhanraj K Pandey, Sudhir Kotnala, Rahul Agarwal are some of the notable alumni.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

3.5

The university is completely residential. The infrastructure and the greenery of the campus is something that has always been mainstream of the campus. The hostels are based on single occupancy rooms, provided with a table, bed, chair, balcony and an almirah, with no attached bathrooms instead at the end of every wing there is a common washroom.

The food is not too good but enough to fetch one's hunger with minimal food taste. Although one could always visit the canteen and get better quality food by paying. The canteen runs from 9 am-10pm.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

Being from the arts/humanities school for courses like BA Hons, B.COM, etc the admission is based on a merit basis. The minimum percentage to get in for undergraduate courses stands at 10+2, with at least 50% from a recognized board. However, if you are planning to get in for an engineering course you will have to go through the state entrance exams i.e UPSEE (Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam), the cut-off may vary slightly every coming year.

Post-graduation programs like M.A., M.Tech, MBA, MHM, LLM are followed by the entrance exam and with a minimum of 55% in bachelors. 2020-2021 has been marked with tremendous uncertainties and destruction caused by the corona pandemic. Therefore, the board has decided to terminate the board exams. GBU University has changed their admission process a bit. Some UG courses such as B.COM, BBA, BA have been switched to the entrance-based course.

Academics and Faculty

3.5

The faculties are highly trained and experienced although the university also hires some teachers as the guest faculty. The classes start from 9 am and last until 5 pm varying according to different courses, there is a lunch break from 1:30-2:30. The university follows semester exams held after every 6 months followed by the mid seems held after every 3 months. Projects and assignments are a part of college life. At times you will be given a bundle of assignments where as sometimes you will be as free as a bee.

I visited the college once that too for just 10 days due to this covid time it was again shut down. our batch has not yet had an opportunity to experience physical classes. Though faculty and university norms have made sure that everything fits well for the students.

Fees and Scholarships

1.5

GBU is a state-owned university. The particular course I am pursuing is BA HONS (English Literature) is a 3-year integrated course that costs INR 1.5 Lakhs in total at Gautam Buddha University, [GBU] Noida. There is no particular scholarship available for now but for EWS students and one from reserved category fee concessions is provided. I never came across a student who has taken a loan as the fees are really low. Also, a bit of political and insider sources in the college will help you in a lot of ways.

Clubs and Associations

3.5

The colleges have various clubs like Literature club, photography club, dance club, techno club and a lot more but one can't be directly let into any of the clubs instead you have to earn the place in the club you want to join in.

Abhivyanjana is a yearly college fest that will get you mixed feelings, excitement, joy, enthusiasm, nervousness in case you are participating. All together GBU might fit some but some might find it difficult to adjust themselves, especially someone who is an outsider as the college is completely flooded by the locals the ratio of the outsider and the locals is 3:10.
