Placements and Internships

3.5

  • I have just been offered an internship at GetMyUni as a content marketing specialist with the institute's help. It is a summer internship program for the PGDM course.
  • Major roles offered to candidates for the PGDM finance course include equity research and valuation, credit risk management, portfolio management, and business and market research analyst.
  • The companies visiting the campus include Moody's, EY, KPMG, and Delloite, to name a few.
  • There is a 100% placement record from the campus, and each student is placed by the time the course is about to end.
  • The average salary for this course is around INR 10 lack and the highest ranges to around INR 20-25 lakh per annum.
  • The alumni network is the most noticeable aspect of any course in the institute. A strong alumni network base helps in the information building process and mentors the new hires in the specific industry.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

2.5

  • There are two hostels each for boys and girls. The hostels are just like the typical PGs found anywhere in Delhi. However, the fee is somewhat higher than a decent PG that you could find around the college.
  • The food in the cafeteria is decent and costs somewhere from 50 to INR 150 for various options on the menu. Although we couldn't experience this infrastructure to the fullest because of Covid norms, where just the classrooms were open, they seem okay by the look of it, too, for a few days. Unfortunately, there isn't an on-campus hostel or playground in the college, but there are sufficient space and facilities for indoor games and cultural activities.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • The admissions for PGDM finance and other courses involve a structured selection process comprising entrance tests such as CAT or GMAT followed by a written ability test, group discussion, and interview. The weightage for selection was 60% for the entrance test and 40% to GD and PI.
  • For enrolling in the course, a candidate must have graduated with minimum eligibility marks at the time of Admission. However, a candidate appearing in the final year of graduation can apply for the course provided he furnishes the proof of his/her graduation score, issued from the concerned college at the specified date.
  • Following these procedures, the students are first shortlisted based on their entrance score and are offered Admission after totalling the GD and PI process scores.
  • I took the CAT entrance exam, and the cutoff for the course I am currently pursuing ranges from somewhere around 80% to 85%. The cutoffs are subject to change every year.

Academics and Faculty

2.5

  • The routine is manageable, but except for the classes. There is vey little focus on quality projects, research, and assignments. There will be at least 2-3 times in a week after the classes are over where students mainly in the first year are mandatorily required to attend meetings, seminars or any other lectures.
  • The teaching method is good, but apart from the teaching in the form of classes, other lectures and webinars are just for its sake. There is no evaluation or measure as to how much this helped the students.
  • The experience is good until now. However, it can be improved for other students if there are more technical metrics-driven research and projects included rather than focusing largely on communication and formal etiquettes of management education.

Fees and Scholarships

2.5

  • Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, [LBSIM] New Delhi Fee Structure. The overall course fee is about INR 11,67,000. It is subject to change each year.
  • There are various scholarships offered to students on merit-cum-means basis. For instance, six students from both the year of the course are offered a scholarship of INR 50,000 each year.
  • It depends on students if they want to take loans for the course and be arranged completely by them. The college doesn't intervene in any way facilitating in providing loans to the students.

Clubs and Associations

3

  • There are clubs and societies for almost every domain on the campus, from which the management grid, placement cell, and alumni cell are the prominent ones.
  • There are annual management and cultural fest called Tatva, which is generally held in February every year.
  • Apart from this, cultural and sports club, the college also conducts various other events throughout the year.
  • College life, in general, is something we couldn't experience much. We all are in an extraordinary time, and so was our life in college. Mostly, we have been attending classes online until now.
