Placements and Internships
- Finance, consulting, analytics are some of the main areas companies hire for besides the core disciplines of engineering.
- Most of the companies that turn up for recruitment are well known and gave a great reputation. A lot of start-ups also turn up at placements.
- The Alumni network in Indian Institute of Technology is very extensive and robust. They are present in large numbers in the kinds of companies mentioned above.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- Hostels in Indian Institute of Technology are just about tolerable.
- The hostel fee is very reasonable, about 18k INR per semester (for dining and hostel facilities).
- Nobody stays in PGs etc. as hostel rooms are available to everyone and they tend to be better than the PGs.
- The food in the mess, though not great by any standards, is average and one can survive on it.
- The classrooms are fairly OK. Some are airconditioned. The infrastructure is very good and much better when compared to the average colleges.
Academics and Faculty
- Academics at Indian Institute of Technology are of quite high standards in most fields.
- They have a really good teaching faculty.
- In a semester they have two quiz sessions and one end semester exam. Besides this, some courses have projects (usually one project per course). Assignments are regularly given (bi-monthly or weekly) sometimes acompanied by assignment tests
- Classes are between 8AM and 5PM depending on the courses selected
Fees and Scholarships
- The course fee at Indian Institute of Technology is about 50,000 INR per semester. This includes hostel and food expenses.
- Most scholarship options are means based, though a few merit-based scholarships exist.
- The fees are quite reasonable and therefore loans are usually unnecessary.
Clubs and Associations
- Indian Institute of Technology has many clubs and student organizations on campus. Almost every interest is catered to.
- Almost every department has its own festival annually. Besides this, the main cult and tech festivals are Saarang and Shaastra.
- College life is quite active and lively in general.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The student must have qualified to JEE advanced and should apply for the course through counseling. The person should score good in JEE advanced, typical closing rank is around 3000
Placements & Internships : I interned at Saint Gobain at Item research park. Spend was 15000 per month. For it department, even Facebook and Google hire. For us, average salary is about 9 lakh per annum. The senior I know got 14 lakh at Rovigo.
