I am currently doing an internship in plant tissue culture at the Department of Botany, Gargi College, University of Delhi. No stipend is provided. My objective is to have hands-on training on Plant tissue culture techniques.
There are many hostels. Hostel fee is different for each course. Mess charges are Rs.100 per day that could be adjusted if we skip a meal. PGs are there with optimum cost. Quality of classrooms, labs all are good. BHU is the largest university in India. It looks like an old heritage building. Everything is nice and affordable.
For my course at BHU, we have to clear a national level examination JNU CEEB comprising of physics, chemistry, maths and biology. After that, the top rankers got universities like BHU, JNU etc. I got AIR 66 and got selected for the course in BHU. I was in UR category. There is no typical cut off for the examination we have to clear the entrance examination.
Everything is nice. The teachers are nice and friendly. They try to give us maximum knowledge with minimum burden. More improvement is needed but overall everything is good and nice
Fees in my course at BHU are not much. The fee for my course is just Rs. 2500 per semester at Banaras Hindu University, [BHU] Varanasi. I receive Rs. 5000 per month as a scholarship from DBT. All the 13 students in my class get this scholarship.
College life is good there. There are clubs for almost all extracurricular activities like mountaineering, swimming, dancing etc. However, I dont know much about it as I was unable to experience that amid this CoViD situation.
