  • Class starts at 8 am everyday. The daily Time table is spread across 6 hours with every lecture for a duration of 50 minutes each. According to the university requirements projects are given out within the first two weeks after term starts. Students are given a duration of at least a month for submitting projects. Class assignements are more regular and may be given out more than once a week. The duration to submit the same is shorter.
  • There are a variety of methods employed to teach the various subjects. Some topics are best covered using films or videos. Others require a deeper understanding of the issue at hand and may require external referencing. Sophia has a brilliant library and a womens centre which has an abundance of books on womens issues to go with it. All of our professors are experts in their field. We have eminent journalists and advertisers as part of our faculty.
  • Sophia as an institution helps with the holistic development of a student. The fine balance between academics and co curricular activities promotes growth and knowledge

Fees & Scholarship

  • For an institution like Sophia's that offers a brilliant infrastructure and various other facilities, the fee is much less compared to any other institution. The annual fee is approximately Rs 18000.
  • There aren't too many scholarship options available. There may be a few for the BA students but not too many for the BMM crowd. BMM however has the exchange program with Concordia University, USA. Students in their First year or Second year can seek to apply for the exchange program at Concordia.

  • I had the opportunity to intern twice, in my first and second year of college. In the first year i interned at 'Inonit' an online shopping portal. I was into content writing while working with them. In my second year i had the pleasant opportunity of interning at Ogilvy and Mather advertising which is one of the best advertising agencies in the country. While at Ogilvy I was interning in the client servicing department and was working for 'Dove' (Haircare).
  • The placement cell of the college does make efforts to get internsip and job opportunities for the students but there is scope for more. College officially does not have campus hiring but the placement cell does post on the colleges facebook page regarding internship and job opportunities.

Infrastructure & Transportation

  • College has an on campus hostel to accommodate to out station students. Sophia attracts students from all over the country and hence caters to their accommodation needs through its main hostel and the Polytechnic hostel. Both are on campus but the difference being that the Polytechnic hostel is a 2 minute walk away from the main college building.
  • There are various PG options available close to college at reasonable prices. There are around 3 other All Girls hostels as well that accomodate students and are fully catered.
  • The college canteen is decent and offers value for money. The canteen is functional till 4pm and serves a variety of dishes both North indian and south indian meals. The maximum cost that a meal could go upto is Rs 35.
  • All the classrooms are equipped with audi-visual aids. There are Air Conditioners in some rooms as well. The class rooms are spacious enough, well lit with comfortable desks and benches.
