hi,

my name is dikshita baruah and am a student of jesus and mary college, delhi, currently persuing my last year of college in the sociology department.Three years in my college i guess its more than enough to give a review of about my college especially of my department. As this college is affiliated to the delhi university i guess this explains the reason for the high cut offs required to get an admission into it but the best part about jmc is one can surely benefit from the cut offs set aside by other colleges by applying to my college as at the time of admission the best of four is taken into consideration and along with it if in the subject one wishes to take up a course then in that particular subject an aggregate percentage of marks is added thus increasing ones overall percentage and one can be sure if one is aspiring for a degree under delhi university post 3 years in the ugc level,he is sure to get it under jmc.

once you r in the campus and college starts the college sure is going to transform your overall personality post 3 years hence and this is possible with the wide range of exposure offered to you in the campus life  in classrooms where you have the best teachers who are highly talented themselves and have such dynamic personalities about the world around them, who amke sure that they transmute their knowledge and personality within you and transform you into an individual capable to facing this competitive world fearlessly.moreover the college gives one immense opportunity to grow by organizing diffrent talks with emminent personalities,by providing exposure for placement to all by equally giving each girl to sit and attend pre placement talks and then choose her own forte wherin the desired candidate can sit for their own company placement.we have companies like zomato.the oberois, torque, dell etc coming to our collge and every year quite a hansome number of girls get a chance to live their dreams post college when the real life begins.

as far as the classroom ambience is concerned jmc is gifted with the best and most friendliest teachers any college i doubt can have.they push each girl to their best by acting as a friend helping them through giving indepth knowledge relevant to the current times so that each and evry girl relates the bookish knowledge to their evryday life and this adds to the fun quotient at jmc.there are classroom presentations, research trips, class tests, home assignments each planned well in advanced so that the students are comfortabllu prepared for it,and to add up off campus through latest technological help we have chat groups with our teachers wherin we cn interact with them evn at odd hours of night during exams, such are the kinds of teachers available at jmc :)

the methodology of teaching involves reviewing past years question papers at the end of evry topic, referring of current topics and also there are tutorials wherein girls are divided into groups of 8/9 each and every group meets each teacher every week to discuss their doubts.

the college has been approved of funds by naac and hence it is under rennovation as of now but nonetheless the campus has well equipped labs,a huge well stored  library,a wifi enabled campus, huge playgrounds, the best caffeteria where one cant miss out on the most amazing chaats, rajma chawal etc.

the college doesnt have however hostel so students have to find their own accomodation and have to look after their transportation.however being located in central delhi easy bus, metro and auto communication servies can be achieved by the students.

Hostels & Food

as i said as the college doesnt have its own hostel hence the students rely on the neighbourhood pgs and rented houses which can be a bit budget taking but here again cheaper options are readily available.

the food in the college canteen is really aweome and this can be a hub for chaat lovers, and if one is still not satisfied there is jus in 5 mins distance a place called satyaniketan which is a hub for mouthwatering cafes at a very reasonable rates offering you multiple cuisines, one cant get enough exploring them even in three years of college life as at the end of three years you would still end up not exploring quite many cafes and you may be disheartened at this.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY: JMC is famous for its academic rigor- students often complain that it's just like school. Class timings are 8.30-4. The number of classes depend on your semester- the workload increases quite a bit from third semester on wards. Delhi University style of functioning is not great, but the teachers try their best to compensate. The English department faculty is quite good in that the teachers are well qualified and serious about their job. The teaching method is classroom only, which is ineffective sometimes.

ENGLISH , batch of 2016 8/10
ACADEMICS & FACULTY: The attendance in the college is taken regularly and one has to maintain a particular %age of attendance so the students are regular to the college and the classes runs smoothly. The faculties at JMC are excellent and they imparts good knowledge to the students.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE & INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE: There is very little foreign exchange offers given to the students. The students learn different foreign languages and try to get into some international universities on their own.
FEES AND SCHOLARSHIP: Actually, I don't know much about this!
PLACEMENTS & ALUMNI NETWORK: Internship and work offers are pretty much high. Probably that's the best part of JMC...

English (Honours), batch of 2016 7/10
ACADEMICS & FACULTY: JMC takes academics pretty seriously. The English Department in particular holds a reputation for being one of the most academic-oriented in Delhi University. The faculty is comprised of knowledgeable, qualified and affable (mostly) teachers who do their best, despite the gaping flaws in the curriculum prescribed by DU. However, the teaching method is rather traditional and boring sometimes. There is a substantial amount of workload (which many students complain about). One has to think twice about skipping classes here.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE & INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE: Zilch. JMC does not have any exchange programs or collabor...
