What to choose PGDM or MBA

Students while deciding their qualifications sometimes get confused between choosing an MBA or PGDM. In this article, you will come to know about both of these qualifications. MBA is a degree course both government and private colleges offer this course. (PGDM) Post Graduate Diploma in Management is a diploma program offered by B-schools/Colleges that are acknowledged by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Choosing between an MBA or PGDM, if you are interested in MNC's jobs, you should choose the best B-school/ MBA colleges based on their ranking, curriculum, and placements, and don't choose by the degree or diploma they offer. Corporates don’t see whether you are from an MBA or PGDM. They only need candidates/students who can perform well on the job.

Why few offer MBAs and the rest offer PGDM?

In India, only universities or education institutes which are affiliated to a university have the right to offer degrees such as MBA, BBA, B.Tech or B.E. The institutions such as IIMs, XLRI, MDI and so on cannot offer MBA as they are autonomous bodies that are run independently. Hence they offer the PGDM course.
