‘VRIDHEE’ - NIOS sponsored workshop organized by School of Education, GD Goenka University

National Institute of Open Schooling [NIOS] organized a one day workshop on VRIDHEE ( Virtual Resources for Individualized Development and Holistic Educational Endeavour) organized by School of Education, GD Goenka University on April 23, 2018. The Member Secretary of National Commission for Women Dr. Satbir Bedi established the workshop.

The educational event witnessed more than 200 academicians, educational administrator, teacher-educators, school teachers, researchers and student teachers across India from various government and private universities and colleges in order to create awareness and develop skills amongst them with the help of discussion and hands-on experience on Course Development for NIOS SWAYAM Platform of MHRD, Government of India.

The audience was trained and was provided with hands-on experience for the development of innovative and online courses for secondary school level and higher education level which are offered on NIOS SWAYAM portal of MHRD, Government of India.

The Vice-Chancellor of GD Goenka University Prof. (Dr.) Shrihari mainly stressed the importance of virtual learning to promote access to quality education to the ‘unreached’ in his welcome address at the workshop. The Dean, School of Education, GD Goenka University Prof. (Dr.) Reva Parimoo Raina enlightened the delegates about the workshop. Dr. Satbir Bedi spoke about the concerns in education in recent times and encouraged the teacher delegates to bring innovation in teaching - learning and emphasized on thinking ‘out of the box’.

The Guest of Honour of the workshop, Prof. (Dr.) C.B Sharma - Chairman, NIOS addressed the gathering on the importance of Virtual learning in present times.

An e-book of the proceedings of the 1st International Conference ‘ERA 2017’ which was held on Oct 6th, 2017 was released by the dignitaries during the inaugural session.

Prof. (Dr.) Harjeet Kaur Bhatia, Head, Department of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi appreciated the contribution of NIOS SWAYAM platform in providing access to inclusive and equitable education during his Valedictory address. The training officers from NIOS provided practical sessions of learning courses development on SWAYAM portal to the delegates of the workshop.
