UP Board 2022 will Continue to Keep 30% Cut in the Syllabus for 2022-23 Academic Year
UP board officials have stated that the board will continue to keep a 30% cut in the UP board syllabus for classes 9th to 12th.
UP Board 2022: For the third year in a row, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) has decided to only cover 70% of the annual syllabus for the more than one crore students in classes 9 – 12 during the new academic session.
These students are enrolled in approximately 27,735 schools statewide that are connected to the Board. The syllabus posted on the board’s official website still includes the same 30% cut as the previous two years. According to board officials, the lack of regular study for the previous two years due to Covid and the mental stress the students are experiencing are the reasons behind the decision.

Officials admitted that after the Class 10 and Class 12 exams this year, practical exams and the evaluation of answer sheets had a negative impact on academics for over two months. Only 70% of the curriculum would be taught, and student evaluations would be based on the shortened curriculum covered to provide a comfortable environment for the students who have returned to school after a two-year absence and support their holistic development without adding any additional pressure.
Additionally, starting this year, the UP Board will conduct written exams for classes 9 and 10 using a new format. Five exams will be given each month for the academic year for the first time, contributing to students’ evaluations. Two assessments require descriptive answers and three tests based on multiple-choice questions.
Shweta Arora, a regional officer for CBSE in Prayagraj, confirmed the change while stating that the 2022–23 academic year will use the same syllabus as last year. The syllabus for other subjects, notably Hindi and English, has also been reduced for this year by the Council for the Indian School Examination (CISCE). The UP Board will Continue to Keep 30% Curriculum.
