The Law Moot Court Competition, 2018

The morning of March 23rd, 2018, was not the usual morning for the Students and Faculty members of School of Law, G.D Goenka University. The Law School which is one of its own kind was organizing its 3rd G.D Goenka Global Antitrust and Competition Law Moot Court Competition 2018. The School of Law which is spread around of 60 acres in the Gurgaon- Sarah Road, is always in top stories while hosting some of the finest and prolific Moot court competitions. To provide a strategic platform for the law students so that they can implement their pragmatic study of Law is the one specific aim of the organizers of the School of Law Moot Court Competitions.

With a total of 24 teams from all around the nation registered themselves to be a part of the Moot Court Competition, the 3rd G.D Goenka Global Antitrust and Competition Law Moot Court Competition, 2018 was inaugurated on 23rd March 2018. The lightning of lamps from the hands of some of the finest and exorbitant personas in the field of Law Studies like Mr. John Handoll [National Practice Head (Competition Law)],Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Mr. Matthew Slone [Director, Global Litigation Services- Unitedlex], Mr. Anirudh Wadhwa [Partner,Wadhwa Law Chambers] and Mr. Amar Kumar Sundaram [National Director (Legal) Ernst & Young Service Pvt. Ltd.] was a fortunate start for the liberal competition. Prof. (Dr.) Shrihari [Vice- chancellor, GD Goenka University] felicitated the dignitaries and Prof.(Dr).S. Shanta kumar[Dean, Academics and Dean, School of Law] delivered the welcome address to the participating teams and wished them luck. Mr. Nipun Goenka, Managing Director, G.D Goenka University, Deans of all the Schools of GD Goenka University and other reputed members of the faculty were present for the occasion.

The wise and impulsive words from all the dignitaries enlighten each and every corner of the auditorium present in the center of the 60 acres of Campus. The dignitaries also feel necessary to address about the challenges faced by the practitioners in this field, and equally,about the brighter side. They also shared that there was very less knowledge and awareness regarding both Antitrust and Competition Laws, but now it is gradually evolving. 

The next day was fired up with some of the finest speeches and rebuttals from the participants to introduce the agenda on the floor. The Preliminary round and quarterfinal rounds were successfully completed on 24th March 2018 with a common resolution by the participants. Semi-finals and final rounds were concluded on 25th March 2018 which was followed by the Valedictory Ceremony.
