The end of tenure Dr. V. M. Muthukumar

Dr. V.M. Muthukumar has been serving as the Vice-Chancellor for a long time under which the university has really grown and reached new heights. The tenure of Dr. V. M. Muthukumar is coming to an end on 12th June, 2017 thus creating the need for a new vice-chancellor. After winning in the elections for a new vice-chancellor, C. Thiruchelvam, Associate Professor of Commerce, H.H. The Raja's College, Puddukottai and the former Registrar of Bharathidasan University was elected as a representative of three-member Vice-Chancellor Search Committee of Bharathidasan University.

C.Thiruchelvam as the new VC

Elections for Vice-Chancellor was held on 22nd April on Saturday. There were a total of 202 votes polled out of which C. Thiruchelvam secured 133 votes as opposed to the 69 votes secured by D. Muthuramakrishnan, Associate Professor, National College, Tiruchi. C. Thiruchelvam won the elections with a striking margin of 64 votes. The results were announced by Registrar In-Charge R. Babu Rajendran. The syndicate nominee election for the Vice-Chancellor Search Committee is scheduled on 4th May. The panel will be headed by Governor nominee.
