"The Supreme Court bench heard a petition filed to reschedule the NEET-UG 2021 after the CBSE compartment/private/patrachar exams."
The Supreme Court has heard a petition regarding the rescheduling of the NEET UG 2021. The board wished to postpone the undergraduate medical exams to take place after the declaration of results for the CBSE compartment/private/patrachar exams. Earlier, authorities scheduled the NEET UG 2021 entrance exam to take place on 12 September 2021. The bench comprised Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice Hrishikesh Roy, and Justice CT Ravikumar. After hearing the petition, the Justices stated, “Your grievance is that other exams will commence and results will not be available. The relief claim is unnecessary as authorities say you will be permitted to appear”. Afterwards, the apex court adjourned the petition until a further hearing to take place on 6 September 2021.
However, the NTA has told the supreme court that the non-declaration of scores for the CBSE Private, Compartment, and Patrachar exams for Class XII will not restrict students from appearing for the NEET UG exams. Moreover, the board will only require results during the admissions counselling process. Henceforth, the National Student Union of India has written to Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Education Minister, to look into the issue. The NSUI asked that the authorities reschedule the medical UG exam. In addition, they asked the board to allot a minimum of 7-14 days for adequate preparation time.
