SP Jain becomes the first in Asia to use advanced technology to bring the classroom to the homes of its students affected by COVID-19
As COVID-19 brought the world to a remarkable standstill position, To keep pace with the educational race, Universities across the globe are trying to adapt their programs and classes to online alternatives. When it comes to the online world, it has been found that all the learning systems are similar and caught unaware of programs, a majority of universities have compromised to use whatever technology is feasible for them. In this Scenario, S P Jain School of Global Management has become a game-changer in the educational field. The School is using its own proprietary Engaged Learning Online (ELO) technology which was developed to fulfill the need for customized high-quality online education.
Named among the high-end online learning systems ELO represents the live classroom exactly the same as the classroom. Similar technology as Oxford's HIVE and Harvard’s HBX, the ELO is equipped with a robotic tracking camera for the faculty members which allows them to maintain eye contact with students, move freely, moderate discussions, respond to their visual cues, and more, all in real-time. To keep eyes on students' responses and keep them motivated, ELO enables faculty to evaluate each student’s level of engagement exactly like a conventional classroom. This technology is also able to engage Faculty and students in any one-on-one conversations. ELO also engages those students who couldn’t participate in an on-campus classroom discussion.
President, Mr. Nitish Jain SP Jain, shares, “Like every industry, technology is taking a shape the way we live and experience things. Unlike Google Hangout, Zoom, or other popular video conferencing apps that were designed for office use whereas ELO technology is all about ‘student engagement’. We weren’t supposed to simply replicate our classes for the online study platform. Our students deserve – no matter where in the world they are – to continue to experience the dynamism and engagement of an SP Jain classroom, safely and comfortably.
More than 2,000 students from 20 countries have experienced this innovative technology in the last four weeks and found the virtuality as fantastic. This is very encouraging to see our students continue to enjoy their virtual lessons and bond with faculty, in any situation. We are continuously collecting feedback and revising our technology to ensure that it is at the forefront of online education.”
ELO technology in SP Jain’s institute was launched in late 2018 with the objective of accessibility to the internationally recognized MBA program to working professionals who wouldn’t have the flexibility of continuing an on-campus program. Following its success within the EMBA, the School expanded its ELO offering to include executive education programs as well as short courses for working professionals across the globe.
