PES University sets up Centre for Development Studies

PES University, [PESU], Bangalore established a unique Centre for Development Studies which is being headed and advised by Professor R.S. Deshpande, former Director of the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bengaluru. Centre for Development Studies is a premier social science research institution. Professor R.S. Deshpande, former Director of the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bengaluru, said: "The university through CDS will be offering a unique course of MSc in Applied Economics keeping in view the need of the academic fraternity."

Debate Competition at The Centre for Development Studies

The debate was held at the Auditorium, Panini Block, PESU Campus, BSK III Stage, Ring Road. Due to the current economic situation due to demonisation, the topic of the debate inevitably was “Budget in the Shadow of Demonetization: Welfare Augmenting or Deteriorating”. The judges were a panel of experts from Bangalore. The event saw the participation of Prof Charan Singh, RBI professor, IIMB, Dr. L.V. Nagrajan, Former Additional Chief Secretary Finance, Govt of Karnataka and Prof K.R.S. Murthy, former director IIMB. The presence and the speeches delivered by these distinguished individuals was an inspiration for the students. When asked about the event the students said that they are really looking forward to a lot more events like this and it's going to be possible because of the setting up of the Centre for Development Studies.
