Violinist L.Subramaniam's dream has always been to blend music with mainstream academics. Almost a decade ago, L. Subramaniam started the Academy of Performing Arts (SaPa) and the Lakshminarayana Global Center for Excellence (LGCE) in Bengaluru. He is now set to bringing his dream to life by collaborating with Jain University to create the next generation of musicians.
How the collaboration will take place:
Jain University has decided to collaborate with SaPa and LGCE to offer a structured doctorate degree, MA, and BA courses in music from this academic year. With this collaboration, they intend to combine the best of practical and theoretical knowledge and create a signature syllabus that is parallel to a gurukul making it a worthwhile learning experience. The violinist and his wife and singer, Kavitha Subramaniam, worked together for four years to finalize the curriculum.
A Memorandum of Understanding was recently signed between Mr. Subramaniam and Chenraj Roychand, Founder Chairman and Chancellor, Jain University. Although the collaboration will start off with a Bachelors' degree, a Diploma is also on the cards for students who want to pursue the course for a shorter duration. The faculty will include national and global musicians and scholars in music.
