Convocation at Lovely Professional University has always been illustrious as either head of a nation or an international leader addresses the convocation which makes the students assimilate pragmatic thoughts just before stepping into a new phase of their life. Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar held it's 8th Annual Convocation on the 2nd of May 2017 and the Hon’ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee was the Chief Guest on this ceremonial day. His Excellency Governor (Punjab) Shri VP Singh Badnore presided over the ceremony.

The President awarded 38 gold medals to the exemplary students for their outstanding academic performances. The university also awarded 15,988 degrees to regular and distance education students of the previous batch. Lovely Professional University Chancellor, Mr. Ashok Mittal said: “On the convocation day, a rare swivel of international integrity was seen as students from 50+ different countries received their degrees/certificates along with their Indian classmates from all states of India. Assessing great presence of VVIPs, the complete State administration was involved in security arrangements at and around the campus. Both Punjab State and the university's administrations worked very hard to make the event a grand success.”

It was the President's second visit at the Lovely Professional University campus on the 2nd of May. Prior to this, he was at 3rd Convocation of Lovely Professional University along with the then President of Afghanistan, Dr. Hamid Karzai.
Convocation at the university has always been resplendent as it is always addressed by eminent guests. Preceding to this, six Presidents and Prime Ministers of different nations including Mauritius, Kingdom of Lesotho, Commonwealth of Dominica (North America), Afghanistan and also Nobel Peace Prize recipient, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, have delivered great convocational messages to thousands of Lovely Professional University students during different convocations.
