The Department of Electrical Technology of Karunya University in association with the National Institute of Technical Teachers' Training and Research (NITTTR), Chennai held an International Seminar on Educational Media and Technology on the 17th of March, 2017. 50 delegates from 14 different countries; Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Fiji, Ghana, Mauritius, Russia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Tajikistan, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe attended the seminar.

Dr. Joseph Kennady, Registrar of Karunya University, reflected on the rise of technology in imparting education and also the need for the professors to understand and conform to the changing times to impart education with technological aides. Dr. Malliga – Head, Centre for Educational Media and Technology, NITTTR, Chennai, gave the delegates an introduction about NITTTR and stressed on their work in the field of Education Technology in her keynote address. She also went on to thank Karunya University for the collaborative effort.
Dr. Shobha Rekh, HOD, Department of Electrical Technology welcomed and addressed the gathering briefly and the inaugural session came to an end with the vote of thanks given by Dr. Flavia Princess, Program Coordinator, Electronics and Media Technology. The day-long seminar consisted of talks based on topics like MOOC framework and Pedagogy, ICT in Education (Mauritius), Online tools for effective E-learning and also a visit to the various facilities available in-house at the University for a hands-on training in e-learning and lecture capture.
