The Institute of Entrepreneurship and Career Development (IECD) of Bharathidasan University had conducted various skill development programmes during 2016-2017 which received participation from approximately 85,000 school children. The training was an initiative taken up by School University Industry Tie-up Scheme (SUITS) that was launched in 2009. The IECD has been conducting certificate programmes in Computer Basics, Office Automation, Programming Techniques, Graphic Design, C Programming, Web Design, C++ Programming and 2D Animation. So far about 2.91 lakh children have undergone the training since 2009, according to K.Parathasarathy, Director, IECD, Bharathidasan University.
The end of annual academic year of SUITS was marked on Saturday with L.Uma, Syndicate Member of Bharathidasan University. A ceremony was held to honour and distribute gold medals and certificates to the state-level rankholders among the trainees. Gopinath Ganapathy, Syndicate Member, distributed trophies and certificates to outstanding schools which participated in the SUITS programme. Over 85,000 students from 294 schools in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry made this programme a success and sensation.
