ICAI Clears Confusion Regarding CA Exams

On 23rd January 2018, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) had issued a notification regarding the queries being raised in relation to the conversion of candidates from old scheme to the new scheme before appearing for the next examinations. 

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) had announced new changes in the CA course. ICAI had given details about CA New Course | CA Foundation Route, CA New Course | Direct Entry Route, Changes in CPT, IPCC and CA Final syllabus and other training programs.

Several questions were raised by students taking up the exam this may regarding the new syllabus. The following clarifications have been made by ICAI regarding the same.

  • Exams under the New Scheme will be held at all levels from May 2018 onwards.
  • Students can either continue in the existing scheme or convert to the new scheme. There is no compulsion to convert to the new scheme to appear in May 2018 exam.
  • Those registered under the new scheme have to appear for the exams under the new scheme.
  • Students converted from the Old Scheme to New Scheme will be required to apply for and appear in the exams to be held under the New Scheme from May 2018 onwards.
  • The last exam under the old scheme for different levels will be held as follows:

         Common Proficiency Test: June 2019

         Intermediate (IPC): May 2019

         Final CA: November 2020
