The Human Resource Development Ministry is planning to screen educational content in cinema halls across India. This project was initiated by the National Association of Software and Services Companies. The ministry will be screening courses through its DTH Channel, Swayam Prabha, to theatres located in small towns and urban cities where the population is less than a lakh.
This step was initiated to improve education in India. According to a senior HRD official, this measure can also help tap the unutilized potential of several thousand cinema theatres spread across India. This plan along with the project cost and other related modalities is yet to approved and worked out. Educational content could be screened during school timings of the concerned area. Besides weekdays, the screening might also be done on Sundays and other school holidays. through this measure, the government will be able to reach thousands of students throughout India.
The HRD Ministry has rolled out 32 educational channels to offer high-quality content for higher education students. Out of these 32 channels, 3 channels are for students preparing to write the IIT entrance exam, JEE Advanced
It is expected that mass viewing of educational content by students can have a big impression.
