The Registrar of the university was summoned by the CBI team that is investigating the Vyapam scam. The Registrar and two deputies were summoned for the second time for questioning.
They were earlier questioned regarding the MBBS admissions that were held in 2012-13.
All Original Documents Demanded by the CBI
The CBI gave the Registrar, UN Shukla an ultimatum telling him to provide all the original documents to the CBI regarding the candidates who secured admission in the university after clearing the PMT- 2012. The Registrar and the deputies were questioned for about 30 minutes. Some member of the university is also under the scanner of the CBI for the violation of admissions protocol.
CBI had earlier asked for the details of University officials who were in-charge of eligibility, enrolment and examination documents of the MBBS students in 2012. Agency suspects that the private colleges had tampered the list of students collecting it directly from the office of the director of medical education in stark defiance of set norms.
Despite repeated attempts by the CBI to get the documents, the university officials weren't providing the documents. CBI is investigating the correspondence between various private colleges and the universities and that's why they demanded the university documents to be sent. The CBI took over the investigation after the deaths of over 40 accused, whistleblowers and beneficiaries etc. The investigation is ongoing but the CBI hasn't been able to find any big breaks in the case. So far, over 2800 people have been arrested in the case.
