Average Salary of Non-IIT & NIT graduates in India: NIRF-MHRD Rankings

IITs and NITs are known for placing its students with the most lucrative placement packages.  Students bagging opportunities worth lakhs (and sometimes crores) of rupees is something we come across every year.  But, do you know that besides these there are many other tech institutes in India that offer pretty decent salary packages too? (This article does not cover IITs and NITs).Last year, MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) released the NIRF’s (National Institutional Ranking Framework) India Rankings which lists the best engineering colleges in India ranked by NBA (National Bureau of Accreditation). The rankings are based on 5 parameters - Teaching and Learning Resources(TLR), Graduation Outcome(GO), Perception(PR), Outreach and Inclusivity(OI) and Research and Professional Practice(RP).

Surprisingly, out of the 100 colleges mentioned in the list, 63 are not IITs or NITs. The top three colleges in this list(non-IIT/NIT) with the best graduation outcome (GO) and placement metric are:

  1. M S Ramaiah Institute Of Technology, Bangalore
  2. Bengal Institute Of Technology, Kolkata
  3. Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University College Of Engineering, Pune

However, Vellore Institute Of Technology, Shanmugha Arts Science Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA) and Kalinga Institute Of Industrial Technology have bagged the top three places in placing the most number of students on campus every year.
