Assam CM Cancels Class 10th Board Exams in Accordance with NEP 2020: SEBA and AHSEC to Be Merged
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that there will be no Board exam for Class 10 students from the academic year 2024.
The Assam State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated today, Jun 6, that there will be no Board exams will be held for Class 10 from the academic year 2024. Chief Minister also stated that the decision of the Assam class 10th Board exams cancellation was taken by the Assam state in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
Also, Assam state is planning to merge the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) and to come up with a single new Assam Educational Board. Currently, the Class 10 exams are being conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and Class 12 board exams are being held by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). Anyhow, class 12 exams will be held as usual by the Board.
The Chief Minister stated that “Matric exams will be held only at the school level. This is being done as per the New Education Policy. A new board will also come up soon. But the employees employed for SEBA will not lose their job”.
The Assam Board 2023 results are out and a total of 4,22,174 students appeared in Class 10 exams and the pass percentage of this year is 72.69%. The AHSEC announced the Class 12th results 2023 today, Jun 6. As per the data, the overall pass percentage of the Arts Stream is 70.12%, the Science stream pass percentage is 84.96% and the Commerce stream pass percentage is 79.57%.
