First Year Hotel Management Student Beaten Up
5 Students from Amity University have been booked for ragging recently. The victim, Sahil Rawat is a first-year hotel management student. Sahil got a medical check-up done after his mother told his father that he had bruises all over his body and was suffering from a severe headache. His father reported the incident to the police after Sahil got a medical check up done and the doctor said that it was a medical- legal case.
Sahil gave a statement that one of the accused had been provoking him since the beginning of the semester. According to the statement, Sahil had been cleaning assignment in the class when the boy had to the class to look for his cousin. When Sahil told him to wait for a few minutes as the cleaning was taking place, he got agitated. However, his cousin calmed him down. The boy threatened to have him beaten. When Sahil met him later in the day, he said that he wanted to have a word with him and they went to the basement. In the basement, 4 boys attacked him from behind and beat him up.

As soon as his classmates got to know about the incident, they informed the faculty immediately. Sahil approached a diploma course teacher, MP Verma, who asked him to keep the matter under wraps or he would be suspended.
Sahil's father, Rajdeep informed the university officials about the matter and action has been taken against the accused as well as MP Verma as he did not inform the authorities about the matter. A case also been registered against the accused under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Ragging In Educational Institute Act, 2010 (Section 5) and 323, 504, 506, and 147 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
