All India OBC Students Association: AIOBCSA wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to analyze a caste census to take inclusive policy decisions and devise effective social welfare schemes. Specifically, they believe a caste census will provide empirical data to the government to give OBCs their share in the development process.
Moreover, the association also tweeted a pan-India #CasteCensus, while requesting the Union Government of India to provide reservations according to the population since they are in power. They also requested the Prime Minister to take an immediate decision regarding this matter.
The association also mentions in one of their tweets how many states like West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and more are still not getting 27% OBC reservations in the education domain. A vast uproar demanding caste census, social justice, and data transparency has surfaced.
