It is always a proud moment when someone gets recognized and acclaimed for their work. Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeevi Shanthakumar, Pro-Vice- Chancellor and Dean, School of Law, GD Goenka University has made this country and the university proud, he got voted in as a member of the Governing Board of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Academy of Environmental Law.
With 27 years of teaching experience, Prof. Sanjeevi Shanthakumar has also practised law in Madras High Court for 7 years. He specializes in International Law, Constitutional Law Environmental Law, and Human Rights Law. He has also written three books on Environmental Law. The Professor has also carried out the Environmental Law Capacity Building Project which is funded by the World Bank.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), is a union made up of both civil society and government organizations. Established in 1948, IUCN has evolved into world’s largest environmental network in mere 70 years. It uses its resources along with its 1,300 member organizations and 13,000 experts to provide the private, public and non-governmental organizations with the knowledge and tools that ensure the human welfare and environmental growth.
