The School of Medical and Allied Sciences of GD Goenka University, Sohna, Gurugram organized their 2nd National Conference, on March 16th, 2019 entitled “Recent Advances and Challenges in Healthcare” (REACH). The theme of the conference was "Exploring the Greener Avenues in Healthcare"; the conference captivated proximity of conscious discussions between the scientific community along with incomparable collaborative opportunities between a vast combination of professionals from healthcare, both from academia and industry. Prof. (Dr.) B. Suresh, President - Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) & Vice-Chancellor, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysore graced the event as the honorable Chief Guest of the conference.
The conference started with the lamp lighting ceremony and Welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Suku Bhaskaran, President, GD Goenka University, who contemplated about the contemporary scenario in Healthcare discipline and the immediate need of democratically share opinions of betterment and change, mostly earned through such dialectics of ideas, seemingly visible in the conference. Encouraging and informative Key Note Addresses were given by the esteemed dignitaries, Dr. Shailendra Saraf, Vice President, PCI, New Delhi; Dr. Savita Ravindra, Head, Department of Physiotherapist, M S Ramaiah Medical College and Hospitals, Bangalore; Dr. Sudhir Kalan (M.S.), Chairman, Institute of Minimal Access, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi; Dr. Neerja Haleja, Head of Science and Regulatory Affairs, Yakult Danone India Pvt. Limited, New Delhi and Address by Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) B. Suresh, were present there, which covered a profound, unified and motivational approach to the concerned Healthcare discourse.
In the amiable company of the Chief Guest, Dr. B. Suresh, the unveiling of the proceedings of the conference and release of the Book, jointly edited by Dr. Anil Sharma, Assistant Professor, GD Goenka University and Mr. Raj Keservani; Prof.(Dr.) Rohit Dutt, Associate Dean, School of Medical and Allied Sciences, GD Goenka University was done in between the enthusiastic cheer of the audience.
Sessions held at the Conference:
The Conference comprised of multifold Technical Sessions, aiming to deliver a better understanding of the theme of the conference and academic aesthetics. The First technical session consisted of a Panel Discussion on ‘Need of Herbal Pharmacovigilance’, whose capable moderator was Mr. Kuldeep Chauhan and the skilled panelists included, Dr. Shashank K Singh, Principal Scientist, CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Canal Road, Jammu; Prof. (Dr.) M.C. Gupta- Senior Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology, PGIMS, Rohtak; Dr.Nipun Patil; Dr. Godwin Newton, Assistant General Manager, Shri Baidyanath Ayurveda Bhawan Pvt. Ltd., Allahabad.
The second technical session included an exhilarating talk on the topic of ‘Global Perspectives of Indigenous System of Medicines (Herbalism) in Current Era’, by Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma, Vice President, AIMIL Pharmaceuticals India Ltd. The third technical session was a hands-on Training Session on ‘Microwave Assisted Synthesis: Instrumentation and Application’, by Mr. Sultan Singh, Product Manager, Anton Paar India Pvt. Limited.
And the fourth technical session was a hands-on training session on the topic of “Viscometry: Instrumentation and Application”, by Mr. Rahul Sharma Product Specialist, Anton Paar India Pvt. Limitedngh, Product Manager, Anton Paar India Pvt. Limited.
Apart from the Pharmacy tracks, Nutrition and Physiotherapy tracks were also simultaneously initiated and enough knowledge was rendered. In the domain of Nutrition, Dr. Sandhya Pandey and Dr. Neerja Hajela were Guest Speakers. In the domain of Physiotherapy, Dr. Hema Valecha, Dr. Kshitija, and Dr. Savita Ravindra lend productive and insightful knowledge to the audience.
Furthermore, Poster presentation session was also observed and briefed by the Academic and Scientific committee of the University, wherein some thought-provoking ideas were co-operatively executed in their efforts done for the same. The conference concluded with a valedictory ceremony, by applauding the winners of the Poster session and numerous students-participants gave a paper presentation, whose reach and cognitive acuity was also acknowledged by the University.
