Algebra: Scope and Approach: Algebra is the generalized form of arithmetic. Here we would deal with unknowns in place of knowns as arithmetic.

These knowns are, in general, numbers. It may be recalled that the study of numbers begins with natural numbers without which we would not be able to count.

The system of natural numbers is extended to the rational number system. To be able to measure all lengths in terms of a given unit, the rational numbers have to be extended to real numbers. Exponents and indices would simplify repeated multiplication and their laws would be introduced.

These would be used to write very large and very small numbers in scientific notation. Algebraic expressions and polynomials would be introduced with the help of four fundamental operations on unknowns.

Equating two algebraic expressions or polynomials leads to equations. In the module, a study of linear and quadratic equations would be taken up to solve problems of daily life.

The learners would be acquainted with a different number of patterns. One such pattern, namely  Arithmetic Progression, would be studied in detail.

Quadratic Equations: Standard form of a quadratic equation : ax2 + bx + c = 0 , a 1 0. Solution of ax2 + bx + c = 0 , a 1 0 by (i) factorization (ii) quadratic formula.

Formation of the quadratic equation with given roots. Application of quadratic equations to solve word problems.

Some Applications of Trigonometry:

Scope and Approach: In astronomy, one often encounters the problems of predicting the position and path of various heavenly bodies, which in turn requires the way of finding the remaining sides and angles of a triangle provided some of its sides and angles are known.

The solutions to these problems also have numerous applications for engineering and geographical surveys, navigation, etc. An attempt will be made in this module to solve these problems.

It is done by using ratios of the sides of a right triangle concerning its acute angle called trigonometric ratios. The module will enable the learners to find other trigonometric ratios provided one of them is known.

It also enables learners to establish well-known identities and to solve problems based on trigonometric ratios and identities.

Measurement of accessible lengths and heights (e.g. height of a pillar, the height of a house, etc.) and inaccessible heights ( e.g. height of a hilltop, height of a lamp post on the opposite bank of a river (without bridge), celestial objects, etc. ) is a routine requirement.

The learners will be able to distinguish between angles of elevation and depression and use trigonometric ratios for solving simple real-life problems based on heights and distances, which do not involve more than two right triangles.

Statistics: Since ancient times, it will be the practice by householders, shopkeepers, individuals, etc to keep records of their receipts, expenditures, and other resources.

To make the learners acquainted with the methods of recording, condensing, and culling out relevant information from the given data, the learners would be exposed to the lesson on Data and their Representation.

Every day we come across data in the form of tables, graphs, charts, etc on various aspects of the economy, advertisements which are eye-catching.

To read and understand these, the learners would be introduced to the lesson on the Graphical Representation of Data. Sometimes we are required to describe data arithmetically like the average age of a group median score of a group or modal collar size of a group.

To be able to do this, the learners would be introduced to the lesson on Measures of Central Tendency. They would also be taught the characteristics and limitations of these measures.‘It will rain today’, ‘India will win the match against England’, are statements that involve the chance factor.

The learners would be introduced to the study of elementary probability as the measure of uncertainty, through games of chance- tossing a coin, throwing a die, drawing a card at random from a well-shuffled pack etc.

JAC 12th Syllabus 2021

ENGLISH (CORE) CLASS XI-XII:

  • Candidates are expected to have acquired a reasonable degree of language proficiency in English by the time they come to Class XI, and the course will aim, essentially, to promote higher-order language skills.
  • Syllabus for Secondary and Higher Secondary Levels For a large number of candidates, the higher secondary stage will be a preparation for the university, where a fairly high degree of proficiency in English may be required. But for another large group, the higher secondary stage may be a preparation for entry into the world of work.
  • Core Courses should cater to both groups by promoting the language skills required for academic study as well as the language skills required for the workplace.

ENGLISH (ELECTIVE) CLASS XI-XII

  • The course is intended to give candidates a high level of competence in English with an emphasis on the study of literary texts and will provide extensive exposure to a variety of rich texts of world literature as well as to Indian writings in English, including classics, and develop sensitivity to the creative and imaginative uses of English and give them a taste for reading with delight and discernment.

  • The course will be pitched at a level that the candidates may find challenging. The course is primarily designed to equip the candidates to pursue higher studies in English literature and the English language at the college level and prepare candidates to become teachers of English.

GRAMMAR:

  • Candidates opting for the Elective Course will be introduced to the study of the basics of English grammar and phonology. It is recommended that a book based on a suitable pedagogical model that presents the basics of functional grammar and the bare essentials of the phonology of English be used.

  • The basic concepts in the phonology of English will include the sounds of English, syllable stress, strong and weak forms, and intonation. The course will help the candidates consult a pronouncing dictionary when required.

  • Methods and Techniques The techniques used for teaching should promote habits of self-learning and reduce dependence on the teacher. The multi-skill, learner-centered, activity-based approach already recommended for the previous stages of education, is still in place, though it will be used in such a way that silent reading of prescribed/selected texts for comprehension will receive greater focus as one of the activities.

  • Learners will be trained to read independently and intelligently, interacting actively with texts and other reference materials (dictionary, thesaurus, encyclopedia, etc.) where necessary. Some pre-reading activities will generally be required, and course books should suggest those. The reading of texts should be followed by post-reading activities. It is important to remember that every text can generate different readings.

  • Candidates should be encouraged to interpret texts in different ways, present their views of critics on a literary text and express their reactions to them. Some projects may be assigned to candidates from time to time. For instance, candidates may be asked to put together a few literary pieces on a given theme from English as well as regional literature.

Preparation Tips for Jharkhand 12th Board Exam 2021

  • Please choose the right time to study and the right place to learn: Every candidate's comfort zone depends on themselves. Hence, the candidate should find a study space, learn regularly, and should stick with it. A comfortable and distraction-free study is a must.

  • Everyday Study: Candidates need to make regular studying a habit. Learning every day helps you to understand things easily. Also, it helps to reduce the last-minute stress cramming.

  • Increase studying time during exams: Candidates need to discover their learning style. Every person has a style of learning.

  • Review and Revise: Reviewing and revising at least once a week is advantageous for all candidates to score good marks. Frequent revision helps each candidate to catch all concepts.

  • Ask for help: Don't hesitate to ask if stuck on something. Candidates should talk to their guides and teachers about the things they don't understand.
