HPSOS Scheme of Studies 2021
Candidates appearing for HPSOS Exams 2021 will be examined by means of both written as well as practical evaluation. Written question papers are to be required to answer in writing where the practical tests will be conducted as per the syllabus for the respective subjects. Practical and oral tests, unless otherwise specified, should be carried out by the examiners appointed by the HP board or any other authority approved by the board.
Wherever practical work is prescribed in the syllabus for any subject, a solid record of such work done by each candidate in the format prescribed by the board shall be duly maintained and attested by the head of the Institution. Written test in a subject will be conducted by means of question papers that are given to every exam centres at which the examination is being held.

HPSOS Medium of Examination
Medium for English shall be English except for passage of English shall be translated into Hindi
(ii) Medium for the paper in Sanskrit will be Hindi
(iii) Medium for the papers in other languages shall be the language concerned
(iv) Medium for Senior Secondary Classes for the subjects of Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics shall be English;
(v) Medium for all other examinations and subjects shall be Hindi or English
HPSOS Additional Subjects Criteria
Candidates who successfully clear the Matriculation and Senior Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination from other recognised board or university can offer additional subjects as private candidate that are provided in the scheme of studies. However, the candidate shall not be allowed to select subjects involving practical/project work except for Home Science. Class 12 vocational stream examinations also provide the opportunity to offer additional subjects on certain conditions
Additional Subjects for those candidates who have Diploma certificate under directorate of technical education, vocational & Industrial training, Sunder Nagar (H.P.) or HP technical education board for equivalency to 12th class examination of HP board of school education, the following criteria are to be met.
Candidate should have passed diploma course from any government polytechnic or government recognized privately managed Polytechnic institute of HP to appear in two additional subjects
English subject is compulsory
Mathematics or any other elective subject other than practical involving.
If the candidate passes both the subjects in first attempt, he/she will be issued the certificate in both subjects.
Any candidate who fails in one subject shall have the opportunity to appear in subsequent examination in June and March of succeeding year in that subject in which the candidate fails. If passed, he/she will be issued the certificate in both subjects
- If a candidate fails in his/her third chance, they will have to appear in both subjects as a fresh candidate in the upcoming year.
