About: UPSC ESE Stands for Union Public Service Commission Engineering Service Examination. Indian Engineering Services Examination abbreviated as IES exams are written for acquiring posts in the civil services that meet the technical and managerial functions of the Government of India. UPSC ESE is sometimes called IES Exam.

Conducting Authority: UPSC ESE is conducted by Union Public Service Commission The Government of India recruits its civil servants and officials on the basis of merit, the middle management positions in the bureaucracy are buried through competitive exams.

UPSC 2019 Latest News: UPSC will allow candidates to withdraw their Applications starting from the year 2019. This step has been implemented observing that about 50% candidates who fill the application forms do not attend the exam. Such candidates can withdraw their applications. However, fees will not be refunded by UPSC. 

Expected Dates: The UPSC ESE 2019 or IES Exam 1970 notification will be released on 26th September 2019 and prelims exam will be conducted on 6th January 2019.

Exam Pattern: UPSC 2019 have 2 exams:

  • Prelims Exam (CSAT): The prelims exam consists of MCQ's and the syllabus is General Studies & Engineering Aptitude Syllabus.

  • Mains Exam: The mains exam (final examination) consists of MCQ's and the syllabus is  Mental Ability, General Studies & Engineering Aptitude Syllabus.

Yes. UPSC ESE 2019 is open for candidates who are in their final year of graduation as well.

Q: How many attempts for the UPSC ESE exam are allowed?

There is no restriction on the number of attempts made by a candidate. However, the age limit applies to all i.e 21 years to 30 years.

Q: What is the UPSC ESE 2019 Exam Pattern?

Both Prelims and Mains exams consist of 2 papers each (Paper I and Paper II). The prelims round involves Objective type questions where Paper I covers topics related to Numerical Analysis, Current affairs, Engineering Mathematics and Basic Engineering Aptitude. Paper II will have questions from the engineering discipline chosen by the candidate. Papers as part of the Mains exam will be based entirely on the subject of engineering discipline of the candidate.

The UPSC ESE 2019 Application fee can be paid in both Online and Offline modes. Credit/Debit Card and Net Banking facilities are available for payment in Online mode. In case of payment in Offline mode, a pay-in slip has to be generated and application fee must be paid using this slip at any branch of State Bank of India.

Total duration of Prelims examination is 5 hours. 2 hours and 3 hours for Papers I and II respectively.
