About: UPSC CDS stands for Union Public Service Commission Combined Defence Service. The UPSC CDS Exam ( Combined Defence Services Examination) is conducted twice a year nation-wide by the UPSC. The CDS exam 2019 is for those candidates who want to be employed as officers in the Army, Navy and Air Force.

Authority: The UPSC CSD (I) 2019 is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

Expected Dates: The UPSC CDS 2019 (II) Official notification will be released on 12th June 2019 and the exam will be conducted on 8th September 2019. 

  • Written Exam - The CDS exam 2019 is conducted for 300 marks and two hours duration per subject. The subjects include English, General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics.  The questions are of objective type. 

  • Interview - For those who will clear the written exam, there will be an interview which will include intelligence and personality test.

UPSC CDS (I) 2019 Eligibility

Nationality

a. citizen of India

b. subject of Bhutan

c. subject of Nepal

d. Tibetan refugee (migrating before January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India)

e. Person of Indian Origin - migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and East African Countries like Kenya, Uganda, the United
Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam (with the intention of permanently settling in India) 

Age Limit

IMA

Only Unmarried candidates, born between 2nd January 1996 and 1st January 2001, are eligible

Indian Naval Academy

Only Unmarried candidates, born between 2nd January 1996 and 1st January 2001, are eligible

Air Force Academy

Candidates between 20 and 24 years of age as on January 1, 2020 (Relaxation up to 26 years of age, if the candidate holds a valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA, India)

Educational Qualification

IMA

Any degree provided by a recognised University/ Institution or an equivalent

Indian Naval Academy

A degree in Engineering provided by a recognised Institution

Air Force Academy

Any degree provided by a recongised Institution (with Physics and Maths at 10+2 level) or a degree in Engineering

Physical Standards

Candidates must be physically fit as per guidelines given in the Appendix IV

  • Questions will only be objective-based

  • The question papers of Elementary Mathematics and General Knowledge will be set in both English and in Hindi.

  • The candidates will not be allowed to use the help of a scribe at any cost.

  • The qualifying marks are kept as a discretion by the Commission

  • Candidates cannot use calculators to answer the objective based questions.

UPSC CDS (I) 2019 Application Form Details

  • Photograph and Signature: Candidates should upload the data in a specified format which are given below:

    • The scanned photo should be clear and its better if it is in white background. 

    • The signature should be taken on a white paper by a black ball pen and it should be clearly visible after scanning. The file should be in JPG format.

    • Dimensions for both photo and signature should be 140 pixels (Height) x 110 pixels (width). The size of the scanned files should be between 3KB and 40 KB.

UPSC CDS (I) 2019 Application Process

Important Instructions to fill the Online Application Form 

  • There will be no chances for the candidates to change the details filled in the application form once it is submitted. 

  • email Id and phone number should be filled in for future references.

  • Application Form is available in two languages - English and Hindi, but the candidates can only fill the application form in English.

  • The registration is of two parts.

  • Candidates need to fill the basic information in Part I.

  • Part II consists of filling up payment details, selection of Exam Centres, uploading photograph and signature.

How to fill UPSC CDS (I) 2019 Application Form

  • Go to the official website of Union Public Service Commission, which is upsconline.nic.in. The website can be best viewed in Google Chrome and Internet Explorer 9.0 or above.

  • The contents of the website will be in both English and Hindi. 

  • Click on "Online Application For Various Examinations of UPSC". 

  • Registration for the UPSC CDS (I) is of two parts. The page clearly indicates the Examination Code (CDSI), Examination (Combined Defence Services Examination), Notice Number (02/2019-CDS-I), Closing Date (26-11-2018 till 1800 hours), Part I Registration, and Part II Registration.

  • Click on "Click here for Part I Registration". The page will be redirected to the instruction page that instructs the candidates about the details regarding UPSC CDS Exam 2019 Application Form.

  • Click on "Yes" on the bottom of the page to access the online application form.

  • Fill in Personal details such as Name, Gender, Date of birth, Father's Name, Mother's Name, Nationality, Marital Status, Community.

  • If you belong to a minority community, select Yes and choose your Religion from the drop-down list.

  • Minority Religion List: Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Zoroastrian, Jain.

  • Select your Educational qualifications

  • Enter your address with pin code and area code.

  • Fill in your email id and phone number.

  • Once all the correct details are entered, select "Continue".

UPSC CDS (I) 2019 Admit Card

  • Admit cards for UPSC CDS(I) 2019 will be issued on the official website 15 days prior to the date of examination.

  • Admit Cards will not be sent by posts and candidates have to download the CDS examination 2019 admit cards to be taken to the examination hall.

Results for UPSC CDS(I) is declared in two stages, firstly results are declared for written exam, and final results are declared when SSC interview procedure finishes.
