  • Qualification: As per Staff Selection Commission, candidates need to complete their graduation degree from any government recognized University/Institute.

SSC CGL 2019 Syllabus

SSC CGL 2019 Exam Pattern

  • SSC CGL exam is divided into 4 Tier. The SSC CGL Exam Pattern is different for each Tier. Tier I, Tier II and Tier IV are online tests, whereas Tier III is an offline test. 

  • Tier-1: SSC CGL Tier 1 consists of 100 questions for 200 marks, duration 1 hours.

  • Tier-2: SSC CGL Tier 2 consists of 4 papers of 100 question for 200 marks, duration of each paper is 1 hour.

1. I am a computer science engineer applying for SSC CGL 2019. I am mainly focusing on desk jobs and assistant in the railway ministry and hence I have given Group A, B, and C as my preference. I am in confusion with regards to the available posts in my field of interest. Kindly suggest suitable posts.

If you are looking for desk jobs, you can apply for Assistants, Accountants, Tax-assistants, Auditors, Upper Division Clerks, etc. Whereas if you are interested in a Railway job, you can appear for SSC CGL 2019 post for Assistant in Railway Ministry.

2. I am interested in applying for the Narcotics Department, Railways, and IB. Do I have to appear for all 4 tiers of SSC CGL 2019?

For the Narcotics Department, Railways, and IB, you need to appear only for Tier 1,2, and 3. Tier 4 is exclusively for those candidates who wish to apply for the post of Assistant Section Officer in CSS.

3. How to prepare for SSC exam 2019?

Firstly, you have to make yourself familiar with the SSC CGL 2019 syllabus and the exam pattern. Once you are familiar with that, you can make a study timetable based on that, this timetable should enable you to concentrate on all the important subjects and divide your time sufficiently. You can start preparing for the exam with the help this timetable.

4. I am weighing my options. Is SSC CGL better than becoming a Bank PO?

As in the case with any job, there are advantages and disadvantages for every post. The post you should be applying for solely depends on what you’d prefer. Would you like to have a more laid-back relaxed lifestyle or are you ambitious and would like to put in extra hours at work?

As a Bank PO, you would have a more glamorous post but you will be loaded with work whereas as an SSC CGL Officer, you will be given job security as with any other government job and you will have comparatively less work

13. What is the process of reprinting offline bank challan?

On the main page of the official website, click on ‘Download Offline Challan’ to reprint your challan.

14. Is it possible to generate the offline bank challan before completing the SSC CGL application form process from the link provided on the main page?

No, the link provided on the main page is exclusively for reprinting purpose. You will have to complete the application process to be able to access that.

15. Once the offline bank challan is submitted do I have to manually update the details in my SSC CGL 2019 application form?

No, you need not manually update the details. After 3 working days, details such as the transaction ID and the date of transaction will be automatically updated in your SSC CGL application form.

16. If the status is still shown as ‘Pending’ after I have deposited the fee in the bank through offline bank challan, what do I do?

To receive the official status from the bank, you are required to wait for 3 working days.

17. How do I download my SSC CGL 2019 application form as a .pdf?

Once you are done filling out the application form, click on ‘Apply/Print’ and enter all the required details. The .pdf file will be automatically downloaded.
