SLIET 2019 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for admissions to the BE programmes offered at SLIET 2019 states that the candidates need to possess a valid JEE Main score.

In case of vacant seats after the admissions are accepted through JEE Main, the institute will conduct SLIET 2019 to fill the remaining vacant seats in the BE programmes.

The decision of Admission Committee regarding equivalency shall be final and binding upon the candidate. 

General Eligibility for SLIET 2019 

Take a look below at the eligibility criteria for seeking admissions to the programmes offered at Sant Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology, through SLIET 2019.

As per reservation of seats

There are two modes of admissions:

  • Direct Entry seats
  • Vertical Entry seats

Note: The procedure for admissions through vertical entries shall be implemented as per the admission policy framed by the Institute from time to time.

Seats to which reservation apply:

In case of admission accepted through vertical promotion from certificate course to diploma course and diploma course to BE (Lateral Entry), there shall be no reservation under the following categories: SC/ST/OBC/PH) SLIET 2019.

The admissions into the reserved category shall be available only in the direct entry seats meant for admission to ICD/BE/Post-graduate/PhD programmes.  

The extent of Reservation

The extent of the reservation category for SLIET 2019 will be as under:-

For Scheduled Tribes (ST)

For Physically Handicapped (PH) 

3%  (within the respective category including General Category)

For Other Backward Classes (OBC) 

27%

NRI/Foreign Nationals will also be given admission under the under DASA scheme for a fewer number of seats available in the UG/PG programmes SLIET 2019. There is no provision of vertical promotion system for students seeking admission under the NRI Category.  

Students seeking admissions in the 2nd year of the ICD programme under the vertical promotion scheme of the institute through SET-IA will also not be considered for promotion to the higher module.

Rules for operating reservation

The candidates qualifying examination from the Schools/Institutes within the state of Punjab (excluding Chandigarh) are all eligible for reservation under the Punjab State Category admissions SLIET 2019. All the other candidates will be eligible to claim reservation for Other States (including Chandigarh), for admission to 3 years ICD Programmes.

The Candidates qualifying examination from National Open School or as the private candidate will be eligible to claim territorial quota on the basis of their domicile. Seats remaining vacant in the OBC category will be offered to the general category, as instructed by the Govt. of India.

In case of seats remaining vacant in ICD programme under the territorial quota of Punjab shall be transferred to the Other State quota category and vice versa.

Eligibility for SC/ST Reservation

For applying to avail reservation under SC/ST category, the candidates are required to submit an adequate proof/certificate issued by the competent authority as may be prescribed from time to time in evidence of his/her belonging to their respective category. 

Eligibility for OBC Reservation

The candidates seeking admissions under the OBC category shall require to submit an adequate certificate for SLIET 2019, issued by the competent authority as prescribed from time to time in evidence them not belonging to the creamy layer. The criteria of the creamy layer will be applied as prescribed by the Govt. of India.

Director, SLIET reserves the right to transfer the unfilled seats of one quota/category to another quota/category as per existing rules.
