Introduction to NEST 2019

  • About: National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is conducted every year for senior secondary science candidate. NEST is basically a National Level Entrance Test for candidates looking for admission in Science and Research Education.

  • Participating Universities: Candidate who clear NEST 2019 Cut-off, can get admission into the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and Central for Excellence in Basic Science (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai.

  • About Universities: NISER and UM-DAE CEBS universities are established by Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India in 2007. The main intention of these universities is to train the candidate to scientific programmes of Atomic Energy and provide scientific research.

  • University Affiliation: National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and Central for Excellence in Basic Science (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai universities are affiliated by UGC and Government of India.

  • Course Offered: NISER and UM-DAE CEBS offers 5 years integrated M.Sc. programme in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences. The degrees at CEBS are awarded by the 150-year old University of Mumbai and degree at NISER will be awarded by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI).

NEST 2019 Important Dates

  • Registration: Candidates can visit the official website of NEST 2019 to apply for the entrance test. Application Form for NEST 2019 will be available from 1st January 2019 onwards and the last date to submit the Application Form is on 5th March 2019 (Tentatively).

  • Admit Card: After successful submission of the Application Form, candidates can download the NEST 2019 Admit Card from 25th April 2019 onwards (Tentatively).

  • Exam Date: NEST 2019 will commence from 2nd June 2019 through online mode i.e. Computer-based Test (Tentatively).

  • Result Date: The result will be announced by the conducting authority on 18th June 2019 (Tentatively).

  • Counselling: Candidates who have cleared the NEST 2019 will be called for the counselling process which will be held on 1st July 2019.

NEST 2019 Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination in the science domain i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology as their mandatory subject.

  • Age Limit: Candidates should be born on or after 1st August 1999. For the candidates belongs to SC/ ST/ PWD category, they have the relaxation of 5 years.

  • Nationality: Only students who satisfy the rules of Indian citizenship are eligible to apply for the exam. NRI students or PIO or OCI candidates are not eligible to apply for the NEST. Candidates from J & K, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana state have a quota of 15%.

NEST 2019 Syllabus

  • General Subjects: To appear in NEST, the candidate should have good knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, Computer Science, and Environment.

  • Core Subjects: Syllabus and Question Paper will include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology of the 11th and 12th standard. Candidates need to focus on the NCERT and CBSE syllabus of the 11th and 12th standard.

  • Difficulty: The questions will be of moderate to easy difficulty level, some might appear tricky but the questions are basic in nature.

NEST 2019 Application Form

  • Application Date: Application Form for NEST 2019 will be available from 1st January 2019 onwards and the last date to submit the Application Form is on 5th March 2019 (Tentatively).

  • Application Form Details: To fill the NEST Application Form, the candidates need to provide the correct educational as well as personal details along with the valid email address.

  • Documents Upload: While the time of filling the Application Form, candidates are required to upload the scanned documents such as photograph and signature.

  • Registration Fee: Candidates have to pay a registration fee of INR 1000 (General/ OBC Male Candidates), INR 500 (General/ OBC Female Candidates), and INR 500 (SC/ ST/ PwD candidates )online (Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking).

NEST 2019 Exam Pattern

  • Mode: NEST 2019 will be conducted via online mode i.e. Computer Based Test (CBT) on 2nd June 2019.

  • Question Type: The question paper will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).

  • Topics: NEST 2019 question paper will comprise of the following topics General Ability, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.

  • Duration: The time given to complete the examination will be 3 hours i.e. 180 minutes.

  • Marking Scheme: NEST 2019 Exam Pattern will include 5 sections. From section 2 to 5 are of 50 marks each whereas section 1 is of 30 marks.

  • Medium: The question paper will be in English.

NEST 2019 Exam Centers

  • Exam Centres: NEST 2019 Exam Centre will be conducted across 106 places in India. While the time of filling the Application Form candidates need to select the Exam Centres according to there preference.

  • Exam Centres Selection: Candidates can select at most 5 different Exam Centres. Candidates will be allotted to anyone Exam Centre among the selected centres.

  • Documents: Candidates should carry the Admit Card, Government Id proof, and necessary exam things to the Exam Centre.

  • Reporting Time: Students must report to the Exam Center prior to the reporting time given on the Admit Card.

NEST 2019 Admit Card

  • Admit Card: NEST 2019 Admit Card will be available on the official website of NEST 2019. Candidates who have submitted the Application Form fee successfully can download the Admit Card.

  • Admit Card Date: Admit Card will be issued by the conducting authority on 25th April 2019

  • Admit Card Details: Details related to the exam centre along with the address will be mentioned in the admit card of NEST 2019.

NEST 2019 Results

  • Result Date: Candidates can check there result of NEST 2019 from 2nd June 2019 onwards. To check the result candidates need to visit the official website.

  • Cut-off: Cut off are the minimum marks required by the candidates to qualify the examination. Cut off will be declared separately for each of the section.

  • Merit List: Merit list for NEST 2019 Result will be prepared on the basis of the general section and three best scores from the core subjects. Candidates are advised to attend all the 5 sections for the better result.

NEST 2019 Counselling

  • Counselling Details: NEST 2019 Counselling will be done for the candidates who had cleared the cutoff of NEST 2019. Counselling for NEST will be totally based on the merit list.

  • Rounds: After the counselling, the shortlisted candidates will be called for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview

  • Required Documents: Candidates need to carry all there original documents such as Educational Certificates, Passport Size Photograph, Government ID Proof, Caste Certificate (if any), PWD Certificate (if any) etc.
