MGU CAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria: The candidates must check the MGU CAT 2019 eligibility criteria before filling up the MGU CAT 2019 application form. Applications of candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria stands cancelled.


MGU CAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria Based on Qualification:

Course Name

Eligibility Criteria

 M.Sc Chemistry(Inorganic Chemistry), (Organic Chemistry), (Physical Chemistry), (Polymer Chemistry)

The applicant should have completed B.Sc degree in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics as a subsidiary subject. The candidates must have secured at least 50% marks or its equivalent CGPA in Part III to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.Sc Physics, Specialization from Astrophysics, Theoretical Physics, Material Science, Applied Electronics

The candidate must have completed B.Sc degree in Physics with Mathematics as a subsidiary subject with at least 50% marks or its equivalent CGPA.

M.Sc Biochemistry, M.Sc Biotechnology, M.Sc Microbiology, M.Sc Biophysics

The applicants must have B.Sc qualification in Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry or Physics with at least 50% marks or its equivalent CGPA in Part III.

M.Sc Environment Science and Management

B.Sc degree holder in any of the following subjects: Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, Geography, Life Science, Environment Science, Environment Management, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Plant or Animal Science, Agriculture, Fisheries, Aquaculture, Horticulture, Forestry or a B.Tech in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical/ Environmental or equivalent examination with at least 50% marks will be considered as eligible for MGU CAT 2019 entrance exam.

M.Sc Environment Science and Disaster Management

The candidate with B.Sc degree in any subject with minimum 50% marks or its equivalent CGPA will be eligible for MGU CAT 2019 examination.

M.A. Malayalam

The candidate must have bachelor’s degree in Malayalam with minimum 45% marks or its equivalent CGPA in Part III or a degree in Arts/ Science with minimum 50% marks or its equivalent CGPA in Part II Malayalam to satisfy the MGU CAT 2019 eligibility criteria.

M.A. English

The candidates with bachelor’s degree in English with at least 45% marks or its equivalent CGPA in Part III or degree in Arts/Science with a minimum of 50% marks or its equivalent CGPA in Part I English will be eligible for MGU CAT 2019.

M.A. Politics and International Relations, M.A. Politics and Human Rights, M.A. Politics (Public Policy & Governance)

The applicants must have bachelor’s degree in Economics/ Politics/History/Law with a minimum of 45% marks or its equivalent CGPA in Part III or bachelor’s degree in English/Sociology/Anthropology/Psychology/Geography/Philosophy/ Commerce with a minimum of 50% marks or its equivalent CGPA in Part III or a science graduate with at least 60% marks in Part III.

M.A. Gandhian Studies, M.A. Development Studies

The candidates with bachelor’s degree in any subject with at least 45% marks or its equivalent CGPA in Part III are eligible to appear for MGU CAT 2019 exam.

M.A. History, M.A. Anthropology

The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in the faculty of Social Sciences with at least 45% marks or its equivalent CGPA in Part III to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

M.Sc. Disability Studies and Rehabilitation Sciences

The candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Arts with at least 45% marks or CGPA of 1.8 in Part III or any Science degree with a minimum of 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part III are eligible for MGU CAT 2019 entrance exam.

M.Sc. Psychology

The candidate should be a B.A./B.Sc Psychology graduate with at least 50% marks or CGPA of 2 in Part III to satisfy the MGU CAT 2019 eligibility criteria.

M.Sc. Computer Science

Candidate must have a B.Sc degree in Computer Science/Computer Application/BCA or any other B.Sc degree with Computer Science as the main subject. The candidates must secure atleast 50% marks to satisfy the eligibility criteria for MGU CAT 2019.

Master of Tourism and Travel Management specialization in 1) Aviation Management, 2) Tour Operations and 3)Health Tourism

The candidate holding a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks in any discipline of the MGU University or any other University recognised by the Mahatma Gandhi University will be eligible for MGU CAT 2019 exam.

L.L.M

L.L.B. graduate with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible for MGU CAT 2019.

M. Ed. In Language Education (English, Malayalam, Hindi, Arabic & Sanskrit), Mathematics Education, Science Education, Social Science Education, Commerce Education, IT Education

The applicants must have a B.Ed degree with at least 55% marks or its equivalent CGPA to satisfy the MGU CAT 2019 eligibility criteria.

M.A. Economics

The Candidate must be a bachelor’s degree holder in Economics/Mathematics/Statistics with at least 45% marks or its equivalent CGPA in Core and Complementary subjects or equivalent degree from an institution approved by Mahatma Gandhi University to appear for MGU CAT 2019.


MGU CAT 2019 Reservation Policy:

Seats will be reserved for some special categories like:

  • Reservation for Persons with Disabilities: 3% of the total seats in the MGU University for each programme will be reserved for the person with disabilities. The candidate's selection under this category will be based on the MGU CAT 2019 rank in the merit list and physical suitability, and not according to the degree of disability. 

  • Special Reservation: The seats reserved for candidates who belong to the below-given categories come under this group-

    • Economically backward among forward communities (EBFC): 7.5% of non-professional courses and 6.5% of professional courses are reserved for the candidates who fall under this category.  If any candidate falls under EBFC category then he/she must submit BPL certificate issued by the concerned authority at the time of MGU CAT 2019 Counselling

    • Teachers Quota (For M.Ed only): One seat is reserved as teacher's quota. The teachers who are working in govt/aided schools/colleges and serving for full time are eligible for admissions.

    • Foreign Students Quota: 10% of seats or 2 seats are reserved for foreign candidates who are looking for PG courses in University teaching Departments. Foreign Students are exempted from the requirement of entrance test.
