Joint Seat Allocation Authority [JoSAA] 2019

About JoSAA 2019:

  • Introduction: JoSAA stands for Joint Seat Allocation Authority and is responsible for seat allocation to candidates who qualify JEE Main 2019 and JEE Advanced 2019.
  • Applications: Enlistments for JoSAA 2019 registration will be open tentatively from the second week of June 2019.

  • Enrolment Deadline: All eligible candidates, who have qualified JEE Main or JEE Advanced examination will have to register themselves according to the JoSAA 2019 schedule which is tentatively by the final week of June 2019.

  • Choice of College: Alongside enrollment, the candidates will likewise need to submit their choices for colleges and course/programmes. The schools and courses must be chosen by the candidates according to their inclination as it will be considered amid the seat assignment session.

  • Documents Verification: After the seat distribution result is declared, the candidates should report to their nearest reporting centre for document verification. Only after verification and payment of seat acceptance fees, the applicants will have the capacity to visit their assigned college for confirmation of admission.

  • Participating Institutions: Candidates who are qualified for JEE Main 2019 and JEE Advanced 2019 will be eligible for admissions into 97 JoSAA 2019 participating institutes. More than 34,000 undergraduate engineering seats from the participating IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs will be open for all JEE Main and JEE Advanced exam qualified candidates.

  • Documents Required: 
    • 3 Passport size photographs

    • Provisional Seat Allotment Letter

    • Class XII Performance Check

    • Proof of Fee Payment

    • Admit Card of JEE

    • ScoreCard of JEE

    • Class X Marks Sheet

    • Class XII Marks Sheet

    • Medical Certificate

    • Category Certificate if applicable

    • Registration cum locked choices for the seat allotment

    • DS certificate if applicable

    • Passport of the students and parents if applicable

JoSAA 2019 Participating Institutes:

  • Number of Institutes: JoSAA 2019 comprises a total of 97 participating institutes or colleges.

  • Preference of Course and College: As per their eligibility criteria, the candidates will be allowed to choose their college and course from 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 GFTIs.

JoSAA 2019 Eligibility Criteria:

  • The qualification criteria of JoSAA 2019 must be met and fulfilled by the candidates for admissions into the participating institutes.
  • JoSAA 2019 does not have any set qualification criteria, in any case, for admissions into the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), the applicants should meet the qualification criteria of JEE Advanced 2019.

JoSAA 2019 Application Process:

  • Registration Date: JoSAA 2019 online registration will commence tentatively from the second week of June 2019.

  • Participation: All qualifying candidates in the entrance exams: JEE Main 2019 and JEE Advanced 2019 will be deemed eligible to participate in the process of JoSAA 2019.

  • Important Dates: Eligible candidates should check JoSAA 2019 dates before registering themselves.

JoSAA 2019 Exam Centres:

  • Once the seat allotment results are declared, the candidates will have to report to the JoSAA reporting centres 2019 mentioned below to confirm their allotted seats.

  • JoSAA 2019 will have separate reporting centres for IIT's, NIT's and other institutes. 
  • Candidates who are allotted into NIT, IIEST, IIIT or other GFTIs will have to report only at the reporting centres of the same.

JoSAA 2019 Mock Allotment:

  • A mock seat allotment will be released before the actual seat allotment. This will help candidates decide their seat preferences in a better manner.

Hello Shreya,

The allocated seat can be rejected by the candidates through:

  • Not paying the seat acceptance fee [and hence, not reporting at the reporting center]

  • Not reporting at the Reporting Center, if the seat acceptance fee has already been remitted.

Hello Satya,

The candidates will be allowed to reshuffle/reorder their choices only during the choice filling period before they “lock” their choices. Beyond the permitted time period, the candidates will not be allowed to reorder the selected choices. Read here for more details about the JoSAA 2018 application process.
