JKCET 2019 Eligibility

  • Authority: The eligibility criteria for JKCET 2019 is determined by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examination (JK-BOPEE) for aspirants looking for admission in its participating institutes.

  • Instructions:

    • Candidates who are permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir state are eligible to apply for JKCET 2019.

    • Candidates must have passed the higher secondary examination (HSC or 10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board or university. 

    • Only the candidates who fulfill the JKCET 2019 Eligibility criteria can fill JKCET 2019 Application Form.

    • Candidates score equal or more than the cut-off will be deemed eligible for participating in JKCET 2019 Counselling procedure.


Eligibility for JKCET 2019 

  • Age: The candidate must be at least 17 years old as on 31st December 2019. There is no upper age limit for appearing in the entrance test for admission to engineering courses both in government and private colleges.

  • Qualifying Subjects: Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their elective subjects in case of admission to BE/ B.Tech engineering courses.

  • Aggregate Marks: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (Open merit category candidates, including the children of defence personnel, Children of para-military forces, Children of state police personnel and candidates possessing outstanding proficiency in Sports), and 40% aggregate marks for reserved category (SC/ST/OBC).

NOTE: The candidates applying under TFW category are open merit candidates. They must fulfill eligibility criteria meant for open merit candidates.


Eligibility Criteria for Open Merit Candidates

  • Open Merit candidates are those candidates who have registered themselves under TFW or P&B category.

  • Candidates who want to take admission into MBBS and BDS courses must have passed main subjects English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology independently in 10+2 examination.

  • He or she must have scored minimum 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in qualifying examination.

  • Moreover, a candidate needs to achieve minimum 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in JKCET 2019 to appear in the merit list prepared by the competent authority.

Eligibility Criteria for Reserved Category Candidates (SC/ST/Other Backward Classes)

  • A reserved category candidate must score minimum 40% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in 10+2 examination.

  • Furthermore, a student is required to score a minimum 40% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in JKCET 2019 to appear in the merit list.

  • Eligibility criteria for Reserved Category students are in the compliance with the provisions of Reservation Rules and MCI/ DCI Regulations.
