Eligibility for MBBS Course

  • Educational Qualification: The candidate must have passed Higher/ Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/ Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) or any other elective with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training.

  • Marks:

    • The applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology, and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 60% marks are taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology at the qualifying examination.

    • For OPH candidates in general category the minimum marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology taken together in the qualifying examination is 50%.

  • Nationality: The Applicant should be an Indian National/ Overseas Citizen of India.

  • Age Limit: He/ She must have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December 2018, the year of his/ her admission to the 1st year MBBS, i.e. they should have been born on or before 01-01-2002.


Eligibility for MD/ MS Courses

  • Educational Qualification: The candidates must have passed MBBS or an equivalent Degree recognized by the Medical Council of India.

  • Marks:

    • For General/ OBC category candidates must have secured minimum 55% Marks.

    • For SC/ ST category candidates must have secured minimum 50% Marks.

  • Internship:  A candidate must have completed the required period of 12 months compulsory rotatory internship/ Practical training on or before 31st December 2018 [*Candidates not completing the internship on or before 31-12-2018 need not apply for January 2019 session. No condonation of Compulsory Rotating Internship beyond this date shall be accepted].

  • Nationality:

    • Indian Nationals: The candidate must be an Indian National or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)

    • Foreign Nationals: Foreign Nationals candidates are required to route their application through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi. All Foreign Nationals will have to take prior permission from the Medical Council of India before applying for Postgraduate Courses in the Institute. An advance copy of the application and copy of the request to MCI must be submitted at JIPMER, Puducherry before the last date of receipt of applications. In the events of selection, the candidate has to apply for temporary.
