Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), it is a national level examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and 7 IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Guwahati, and Roorkee) on a rotational basis in several centers all across India.
GATE is one of the most competitive examinations in India.
The GATE score is used for admissions to various post-graduate education programs (e.g. Master of Engineering (ME), Master of Technology (M.Tech), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Indian higher education institutes, with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other government agencies.
GATE scores are also being used by several Indian public sector undertakings (i.e., government-owned companies) for recruiting graduate engineers in entry-level positions.
GATE entrance exam is also recognized by various Institutes outside India, such as Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
Nearly 900 Indian colleges (IITs, NITs & other govt. funded institutions) offer post-graduate education and accept GATE score for admitting candidates to the above-mentioned programmes.
The GATE score is also used by the Public Sector Indian Companies for recruiting engineers for their organizations.
Candidates who hold a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Technology / Architecture (4 years after 10+2/ Post-B.Sc./ Post-Diploma) and those who are in the final year of such programs are eligible to take up GATE 2019.
Master’s Degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs are also eligible for the same.
Score Validity: The GATE score of a candidate reflects his/ her relative performance level. It is valid for a period of 3 years.

Application Procedure for GATE 2019:
Candidates can fill the form for GATE 2019 online via GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System).
The candidate must register with the website for GATE 2019. The candidate must use this password to login to the GATE 2019 website.
The candidates have to add details about education and other personal information.
The candidates must preview the filled in form of GATE to make sure there are no errors made on the application form.
Once the candidate submits the application form no changes can be made.
The payment for GATE 2019 can only be made ONLINE.
The candidate can make the payment via Net Banking/ Debit Cards/ E-challan.

Application Form Fees:
The Application Fees for male General/OBC category students applying for GATE 2019 is Rs 1500/-.

It is advisable for the candidates to select the paper of their discipline, but they can choose any of the mentioned papers.

There is negative marking for incorrect answers.
