Senate of Serampore College (University) established in 1818 by the pioneer of Christian missionaries in Serampore in West Bengal, India. It aims to provide students of any caste, color, or nation with education in theology. The college has achieved the status of Deemed to be university by UGC,  making it India's first institution to have the status of a university.  SSCU is running the academic administration of all its affiliated theological colleges.

Senate of Serampore College (University) offers undergraduate, post-graduate, diploma, and doctoral programs in the field of theological studies. Their aim is to empower ministers, leaders, scholars, and the entire People of God to participate in creative discernment and active involvement in the liberating mission of God throughout the world and in South Asia, in particular by providing theological study and ministerial formation programs through affiliated colleges and institutions at different levels. SSCU admission is merit-based.
