There is one hostel inside the campus and it's not that huge and generally, no one stays at the hostel as all the students come from nearby areas. Pg options vary and so does the price. There are hostels in the vicinity of college too. The food at the canteen is pure veg and on an average will cost you INR 50 to 70. Classrooms are big and can seat 80 students comfortably. No wifi for students. Labs are resourceful and the library has an abundance of books of every branch and year.

  • The college has tie-ups with few companies for internships. They offer them just after the end of the third year. The placement provided is great with a number of companies visiting the college.
  • The only drawback that can be pointed out is that there are hardly any opportunities coming in for ME students.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process
  • The entrance exam for getting admission in this college is the same as all over Maharashtra: CET. During my time, there was a minimum eligibility criterion of 50% aggregate marks in PCM subjects in XIIth grade. The CET cutoff varied.
  • But most students with CET marks over 100 were able to get admission within the first couple of CAP rounds.

The SIES Graduate School of Technology established in 2002 is managed by the South Indian Education Society which has been accorded the South Indian Linguistic Minority status as per the provisions in the Constitution. Seats are available in the following categories-

  1. a) South Indian Linguistic Minority (51% of sanctioned intake)
  2. b) CAP/All India (29 % of sanctioned intake)
  3. c) Institute Level (20 % of sanctioned intake)
  4. d) Against vacant seats after CAP rounds

Campus of SIES Graduate School of Technology -

The Institution is located in the midst of an educational hub in Navi Mumbai. It is situated in congenial environment over a 6-acre plot of land at Nerul, providing an ideal setting for academic pursuits.

Fees:

Rs. 90,560/year

Faculty:

SIES has good faculty. Students understand what they are taught.

Very helpful as well (except some teachers). The faculty in a short span has raised the academic level of the college to be a leader among the similar institutions in Navi Mumbai and is about to catch up with the most leading engineering colleges of the University of Mumbai.

Attendance:

Minimum requirement of  75% has to be fulfilled. Very strict. If the requirement is not fulfilled then papers are to be solved, the number of papers and their length being proportional to the lack of attendance.

Crowd:

A mix of crowd (majority is South Indian, but doesn’t matter).

You’ll find both kinds of people here fun-loving and books-crazy. A very energetic crowd makes the college environment vibrant and active.

Canteen:

SIES has a good canteen. Enough room and nice food. The South Indian is (obviously) really good, but even the 'lunch' is quite tasty.

The downside of the canteen is that it’s common for all the other coursers like MBA, BSc, Commerce, 11th and 12th.

Hangouts:

On Campus: Auditorium/Amphitheatre, around the canteen

Off Campus: Malls, some Restaurants

You may find good places in Vashi which is a little far from here.

Festivals:

'Cognition' (Technical Festival) 'Tatvmoksh' (Cultural Festival) are the two festivals of SIES Graduate School Of Technology/SIES College of Engineering

Placements:

L&T InfoTech, Mumbai, Hexaware Technologies Mumbai, Infosys Technologies, Accenture, NSE IT, Wipro Technologies, Bangalore, Tech Mahindra Ltd., Mahindra British Telecom, Pune and many more.

Minimum Salary offered        1,20,000 p.a.

Maximum Salary offered       3,50,000 p.a.

Average Salary offered         2,25,000 p.a.

Verdict:

Overall, a decent college with the only disadvantage for Mumbaikars being its location. A good one though for those who stay close from there or those who don't mind traveling.

Use of mobile phones is prohibited anywhere in the campus. And if you're caught with mobile in hand, then there's a fine of 5000Rs.

Training & Placement Utmost importance is given to placement related activities to ensure that all successful graduates receive suitable placements. Over the past several years, a strong placement network has been developed with industries in the manufacturing, engineering, financial services, information technology, publication and other sectors. This has been achieved through constant interaction with the industry by way of seminars, research projects, and on-and off-campus initiatives. As part of its placement efforts, placement teams visit potential employers and consultants and apprise them of the level of knowledge and practical application skills acquired by the graduates in their respective areas of specialization. The profiles of the students seeking placement assistance are made available to the prospective employers. Placement meets and personality development workshops are organized as part of the placement program. All the students are provided guidance in career planning as they progress to higher levels of the program. A number of national and multinational companies have recruited the students through campus recruitment. The entire placement exercise is a joint effort between the institute and the students. While the institute provides guidance, support, and networking with potential employers, the students have the responsibility to put in the maximum possible efforts to obtain suitable placements.
