Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Food Technology), batch of 2018
Societies & Associations 10/10

There are lots of clubs and societies which a student can be part of like photography club, mountaineering club, music club, etc. Sanskriti is our cultural festival that is held every year with an amazing line up of artists.

College Infrastructure 7/10

There are separate hostels for girls and boys with very minimal hostel fee. There are PGs and messes available outside the college. The college has about 5 canteens with a diversified menu. The food is good and affordable. Each lab has proper equipment and materials. A central library is present as well a department library where all book requirements will be met.

Academics & Faculty 10/10

The timetable is set in a precise manner with good timings. There is no doubt about the quality and method of teaching being one of the premier colleges of India. The overall experience can only be felt once you become a student at JU. It's not a university, but a home.

Fees and Scholarship 10/10

Trust me, studying from JU requires no money. You probably have to spend INR 120 per year, that too for examination. There are scholarships available for students.

Placements & Internships 5/10

I did my summer internship in Bengal Beverage, a franchise of coca cola, but there was no provision of stipend. Placement not at all, especially if you're interested in the core sector.

Admissions

You have to take the WBJEE entrance examinations for getting admission in JU. For a general candidate, you have to score a rank of around 1200 to take admission in FTBE.

Bachelor of Architecture [B.Arch.], batch of 2021
Societies & Associations 9/10

The societies in campus range from music to literature, science, mountaineering, and photography and cover a vast range of topics. Students can also form a society of their liking under the Dean of Youth Welfare. There is multiple small fests organized independently by various streams along with the major fest called 'Sanskriti'which spans around 14 days. College life, in general, is fun and exciting.

College Infrastructure 7/10

Hostels are few in number with 2 hostels for boys and girls a d open to only students falling under a minimum income line. PGs are in abundance and range from economic to single flats depending on the requirement of the student. Food in the college is very good with 5 canteens inside premises offering food at reasonable rates. Classrooms are like typical government-funded universities. Not all classrooms have AC, libraries and labs have ACs. There is no campus Wi-Fi.

Academics & Faculty 9/10

The daily routine is very well managed. Attendance is important. Quality and method of teaching are above average with national award-winning teachers as part of the faculty. The overall experience is very overwhelming and enriching.

Fees and Scholarship 10/10

It is the cheapest college in India with the total fee of INR 2700 per year (2 semesters). Scholarships are generally not needed but are available for students belonging to very needy backgrounds. Since most students fall above the minimum income level for scholarships, very few people have or need scholarships. No loans are required for studying in this University.

Placements & Internships 9/10

The Fourth year is for Industrial Training of 6 months and the university has the good name in the architecture industry, hence internships are not tough to find. There are no official job placements for the stream of Architecture, however, depending on your portfolio, finding jobs is comparatively easy due to the vast and well-connected alumni network wherein some of the alumni are well known and respected personalities in the industry.

Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Economics), batch of 2019
Societies & Associations 9/10

There are various student societies at JU. Some of them are the drama club, photography club, robotics club, mountaineering club, music club, debating society, quiz club, etc. The annual festival of our campus is called Sanskriti which takes place every year. Usually, life at Jadavpur University is quite happening and pleasant. The pressure of studies is moderately high. But still, you can enjoy the campus life to the fullest.

College Infrastructure 7/10

There are a total of 4 separate hostel buildings. 2 for boys and 2 for girls. The fee per month is around INR 100. If anyone doesn't want to opt for University hostel, the may avail other PG and Mess facilities outside the campus which would cost them around INR 4000 per month on an average. The food in the college is very good and tasty. The canteens are subsidised by the State Government and you can buy food at cheap rates. A filling lunch at a JU canteen can cost around INR 30. Infrastructure is moderately developed. Wifi facility is not that well developed. Though, the classrooms are clean. The computer lab and library is quite upgraded and useful.

Academics & Faculty 9/10

Usually, the classes start from around 11:00 am and continue till 4:00 pm. Internals are held every Monday and the final exams takes place at the end of each semester. Projects have to be done by 3rd year students which carry marks. Projects are based on some sort of field work. The teaching method is traditional. But what matters is the quality of teaching. The Professors are highly qualified and impart the students the latest knowledge and happenings of the subject. College atmosphere is very friendly and overall it has been a pleasant as well as a challenging experience.

Fees and Scholarship 10/10

The course fee per year for Under Graduate and Post Graduate in Economics is INR 1235/year.Low fees are because our University is State Government funded. There are scopes for getting scholarship on various grounds. Some of them are academic excellence, poor financial background, etc. 1-2 people from our batch could get the scholarships. No loans are needed as the fee structure is very low.

Placements & Internships 8/10

I personally have not done any internships as I am in my graduate years. But there is a scope of interning from some good companies in your Post Graduate programme. Usually, Data Analytics and Banking companies hire students from our department. The average salary figure this year for PG Final Year students was around INR 5-INR 6 lakhs per annum. The highest was INR 9 lakhs per annum. Around 90% of the total strength was placed. A major benefit is the strong alumni network. Constant efforts are always made to keep the Alumni connected thereby leading to companies coming for placements solely based on the networks of our Alumni.

Admissions

The eligibility criteria for admission into B.A. Economics is to have compulsory Mathematics as a subject in your class 12 boards. The candidate must secure above 75% in Mathematics to be able to apply for the course. The marks calculating scheme is as follows: Maths+(Best of 3 subjects) of your class 12 Boards.
