Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering), batch of 2021
CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS
8/10

We have all kind of clubs including Tech, Sports, Programming society, News and Publication Society, Drama, Cult, etc. Festivals in our campus include Advaita (college fest) which lasts for 3-4 days, sports days are also there for each sport (there is no gender discrimination in campus, whatever sports event is there for boys will be there for girls too), Literary fests, etc. College life in IIIT Bhubaneswar is chill. Like we balance both extra curricular activities and studies. Faculties are also very helpful when we approach any seniors for any help including mentoring or any other work they are so ready to help us. There is a good relationship between students of all batch.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY
9/10

Class timings change every year. In our first year we had classes from 8:15am - 4:15pm/ 9:15am-5:15pm. Second year it was, 10:15am-3:15pm/10:15am-4:15pm. Nowadays our juniors are having a much better schedule cause. They have electives from 1st year onwards. While for our batch it just started from 3rd year. Projects are given from 2nd year onwards. In one semester we have two online quizzes, one midsem examination, and an endsem examination. Assignments are rarely given by teachers to just grade us individually on that basis, it is usually out of 5 marks. Method of teaching is quite good and the overall experience is even manageable and delightful.

FEES AND SCHOLARSHIP
9/10

International Institute of Information Technology, [IIIT] Bhubaneswar Management Fee Structure. The fee for my course is Rs 90,000 per semester. The scholarship is given to students according to their performance. Loans can be easily availed, mostly from banks like Andhra bank which is situated quite near our college.

PLACEMENTS & ALUMNI NETWORK
7/10

I have done an internship before in AIESEC, a Web Development project. It wasn't a paid internship but the work was very interesting. I got to learn so much from it. Companies like Dell, TCS, MindTree, IBM, Aptus Datalabs, TEK Systems, etc come to IIIT Bhubaneswar for placements. Every year new companies come. 6 lakhs is the average salary for students getting placed through campus placements, 10 lakhs might be the highest salary earned through campus placements. Out of all the people around 90-95% of people gets placed. Alumni network is just building up since the college is new, everything is just in the beginning stage.

INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION
9/10

For me to be honest, when I took admission in IIIT I had at least a tiny hope the campus size wouldn't be an issue. But when I actually went there, it was quite small. But whatever space they have they have utilized it quite well. Like the building and all, I must say it isn't quite bad. Our college building has mainly 3 blocks, which is impressive. Classrooms, labs, libraries, dining halls and all are average. Wi-Fi is given to all students and teachers. Food reviews will be different for every student. For me mainly there are 2 problems, breakfast isn't heavy and healthy. Second is they don't give us nutritious food, very fewer fruits, and vegetables are provided. Meals costs around 20-35/-. Hostels in our college are quite nice, they have all kind of hostels including single, double, triple and quadruple room accommodations. Where triple and quadruple is for 9,000 per semester, and the double room is for 11,000. Single rooms which are the best is for 20,000.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

The eligibility criteria to get admission in IIIT Bhubaneswar is get an average score in MAINS and CBSE. Currently, IIIT Bhubaneswar is present in JOSAA, I got the Computer Engineering (CE) branch in IIIT Bhubaneswar through my MAINS exam rank and CBSE exam marks in the year 2017. Then I had scored 108 in my JEE MAINS (don't remember my rank) and around 85% in my CBSE Board exam.

CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS
7/10

There are various societies such as Art and Design Society (for those interested in art, craft, decoration), News and Publication Society(for those having interests like writing articles, debates, speeches), Cult Society(includes music band, dance club). The main events on campus are Advaita(college fest),

Inter-branch football competition, Interbranch cricket competition, etc. Festivals like Holi, Diwali are celebrated in the college. During Navratri, there is a ten days holiday. Overall, life in college is great as there are many non-academic activities for students for building their overall personality apart from academic.

INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION
8/10

There are two hostels each for boys and girls. One is an old hostel and the other is the new hostel. In the old hostel, there are sharing rooms for 2 or 3, if one wants to get a two sharing room the hostel fee is around 14,000 INR per semester and if one wants a three sharing room, hostel fee is 10,000 INR per semester. And in the old hostel, washrooms are common. The new hostel rooms are basically an apartment type which has a common room and 4 private rooms and 2 washrooms and a balcony. The hostel fee for the new one costs around 20,000 INR. Both of the hostels don't have ACs. The campus is located at the outskirts of the city, so there are fewer options available for PGs nearby. Near the city, there are PGs available but the student has to travel every day to the college which could take about 2 hours daily for going to and returning from college. The food in the college is fine and every week student needs to buy coupons for the next week. Cost per meal is 25 INR ( for lunch and dinner each). And for breakfast its 10 INR. Wi-Fi quality is good. College infrastructure consists of an academic block, Girls Hostel, Boys hostel and hostel for staffs. There are two libraries. Also, there is a reading room where students can sit and study. The timing of the reading room is up to 8-8:30 at night.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY
6/10

Class timings are different for different year students. For the first years, class timings are mainly from 8 am to 3 pm. from the second year onwards class duration is decreased to 4-5 hours but sometimes it can be more depending on the extra classes taken by the teacher. Each semester, students are given at least 2 projects to be done which can be done in groups. Mid-semester exams are held at the end of September which is done in consecutive three days. There are 6 theory subjects in every semester. So during mid-semester, students get less time for preparation as there are two exams held in a day. Method of teaching is good depending on the teacher we get. After classes, the student gets time to study subjects apart from the academic ones. Overall experience in college is good.

The course in which I am enrolled in is B.Tech (Computer Engineering). Those students who have qualified JEE Mains are eligible for admission in the college. After the result declaration of JEE Advanced, the college start releasing the cut-offs. Generally, they conduct 6-7 rounds and after that, there is a spot round. Also if after spot round if there are any seats available they conduct a special spot round which is done in August. First cut-off list for Computer Science Engineering is generally between the range 180-200 marks (obtained in JEE Mains). The last cut-off ranges between 120-140 marks. After the last cut-off, spot round is held in which the cut-off is decided according to the seats left in that branch. For spot round, the student needs to apply for that through the college website. Students need to check the college website for the date of the spot round.

The new hostel is one on the costlier side but is much more comfortable than the older one. One can opt for the new hostel from second year only whereas the foreign students are given the new hostel by default. Apart from this, there are a lot of PGs and rented flats available within the radius of 2km. These PGs and hostels are also pretty much affordable and are available at around 5k per month. All the buildings are having 8 floors. Accommodation fee is 8500 per semester which is very less. As the college is outskirts of Bhubaneswar, residing outside is not a good choice. ACADEMICS & FACULTY
5/10
  • Faculties are an average having done bachelors from local universities. Some of them have done masters from IIT and a very few have done from foreign universities. The quality of education is an average comparing to other institutes is ok. Now Director has advised faculties to make video lectures and upload to students so that it would be easy to learn.
  • Actually, College is in its baby steps, it needs a hell lot of infrastructure and high-quality labs setup here. It needs a few more years to stand at a level to be compared with top institutions. But it's a good college and far far better than Tier-2 private colleges. Placement is getting better and better in coming years. STPI is setting up its laboratory and a small tech park near campus which would be very helpful for students. AS, each year cutoff is increasing more and more good students will come making college better than earlier. The students who will take new admission in college ,for them it would be a good college. AS, their seniors have made a platform that would have a future impact.

PLACEMENTS & ALUMNI NETWORK
6/10
  • Previously, IIIT Bh was under BPUT university. 2014-18 is the first batch of their own university. Earlier, only Dell comes in 3rd Year to hire interns and that only from CSE & IT. But this time we are hoping that 5-6 companies would come to hire interns. bOtherwise students have to do their internship on their own. College doesn't help at all in this. In case a new company would come it would be software based.
  • Average placement till 2016 was approx 4.5 lakhs per annum. Placement of CSE and IT branches are only good. ETC and EEE students have to suffer as there is no core company coming to our campus. In 2016 highest package was approx 10 lakhs given by Huawei and Sap Labs both was pool drive. On campus, Dell was highest with 6.5 lakhs hiring 24 students. This current placement season few companies came with a good package likeJuspay8-12lakhs, Nucleus Software 12lakhs,Codenation24 lakhs. We are hoping for more companies.
  • Regarding alumni network, there is no such methodology existing except FB group. But now an intranet website is being designed to connect with alumni.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process
  • The admission is totally based on JEE Mains Score for Btech admission. You have to apply directly to college as there is a separate counselling process. So, having a JEE Mains score is mandatory to get admission. From this year a new branch Computer Engineering is started. First round cutoff for CSE in 2016 was 241 opening marks but after 5th round closing was 140 for outer states candidate. While home state candidates for case opened on 180 and closed on 81.
