For college, there is the main council in that we have GS, SR, Treasurer etc for which we have an election. And there is student council of each branch where we also have branch GS. The main event of our college is tandav and happenings. Tandav is an inter-branch college event where only GEC student can participate and in happenings, it is an inter-college event where others colleges can participate. College life is awesome.

There are 4 hostels which are allocated to the students who come's from very far away from college. 3 students can live in 1 room except for one hostel i.e hostel 3 in which single final year student can live in one room. there are many small rooms in hostel 3. Wifi is available in all hostels. Fee for per person is INR 4.5k per semester. Classrooms and labs are well maintained.

Our college starts at 9:00 am and ends at 5:00 pm Lectures start from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm then there's lunch break of 1 hr i.e from 1 to 2:00 pm. Then at 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm we have practicals. Timetable may vary each year i.e we have practicals in the morning and lectures at eveningTeachersrs are very much supportive they teach very well and if we have difficulties then they try to solve our difficulties. Our college is best overall You can enjoy, learn, experience many things etc.

The fee structure is different among general, OBC, ST, SC etc For general it almost INR 25k per semester for obc its 30% concession and for sc/st its 50 % concessions. Average of 50 -60 students get scholarship per year.

In our college lot of companies comes to hire students like Infosys and all In order to get placement we must have an aggregate of 65% and above in our desired courses. Some companies offer INR 5 lakh p.a, some about INR 3.5 lakh p.a.


Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

1. We must at least have to get 45% in goa board HSSC exam to be eligible for BE course 2. I took GCET exam 3. Cutoffs for my course was 70 Physics-maths total in GCET.

There are a lot of clubs active in college. We have nature club, photography club, music club, dance club etc. HAPPENINGS SPECTRUM and TANDAV are the major events on the campus.

There are 4 hostels on the campus. Hostel fee per semester is INR 2000. There is sufficient number of rooms and PG won't be necessary. Food expenses are quite reasonable, there is 1 canteen, 1 restaurant and apart from that, all hostels have an individual mess. The civil engineering department has poorly equipped laboratories. The library is very good. WiFi services are also good in library and hostel.

College starts at 9 am and end at 5 pm. Only a handful of good teachers are in this college. Quality of teaching is very poor. The college life in GEC is a lot of fun.

I did my internship at structural consultant in Goa with a stipend of INR 3000 for 21 days. For civil engineering, no major companies come for placements. Average was INR 12000 per month. From my batch, less than 20% of the students got placed on campus. The alumni network of the college is strong.

  • There is a college student council where the members are elected on the basis of elections held Every year. There are clubs like Taekwondo, body building, hockey, football, basketball, cricket, swimming, nature club, NSS, photography club, etc.
  • The main festival of the college is Called Tandav. It is an inter-branch competition. The competitions are both cultural and sports. And then there is another Festival called "Happenings" it is an inter college event.
  • Life in the college is awesome.

  • There is a total of 4 hostels for boys and 2 girls hostel. The hostel fees are Rs 2,000 per semester in which mess bill is excluded. The mess bill comes to around Rs 2,500 per month.
  • The PGs around the college campus rates between Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 per month for a 2BHK. The distance will be around 5 to 10 min walk.
  • The food in the college normally serves the Goan dishes blended with north Indian dishes. You can't expect much. I'll rate it as average.
  • The quality of classrooms could be rated above average. The library is good enough with a computer and Wi-Fi facility. The college has a Wi-Fi facility with a bandwidth of 4gbps. The laboratories could also be rated as average.

  • The class timings are from 9 am to 5 pm. Usually, there are 2 Internal Tests held per semester the interval between the two tests being about 7 weeks. The assignments and projects are not as heavy. Just nominal.
  • The quality of teaching is quite average and some subjects have good faculties. The method of teaching would be traditional classroom method.
  • The overall experience in terms of academics is average and in terms of co-curricular activities will be Good.

  • My course fees are Rs 10,500 per semester. At present, the semester fees have risen to Rs 18,000 per semester. And hostel fees being Rs 1500 per semester.
  • Usually, there are state-sponsored scholarships or Minority Scholarships
  • An average of about 40% of the students receives scholarships.
  • If you are to avail an educational loan, there is a Corporation Bank in the campus where you can avail Educational loan.

  • I did an internship with a Renowned builder and developer in Goa in my 3rd year for a month each during my semester break at the end of my 5th and 6th semester. As for my branch civil engineering, hardly any renowned companies comes for recruitment. Mostly the students get absorbed with the local builders, contractors or consultants.
  • As for the other branches, key companies like Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HSBC, Accenture, etc comes for recruitment.
  • The average salary per year would be Rs 3,80,000. Highest salary usually goes to the IT branches with the salary of Rs 5,40,000.
  • The average number of students that get placed is 50%
  • The Alumni network in the college is not as active. But there is an alumni association. Through the Alumni, we get a lot of help be it education wise or job advice.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process
  • The eligibility criteria depend on your Aggregate in 10+2 (Science) which should be atleast 50% for general and 40% for SC/ST.
  • The admission procedure is mostly based on entrance exam held by the Goa University or through state boards. I got in this college through the entrance exam held by my state, Nagaland as we have 3 seats for Civil engineering every year. And the college being a government college, there is no direct admission, but only through seats on merit basis.
  • The typical cutoffs are basically that your PCM aggregate should be 50% or above.

In Goa College of Engineering, sports and cultural activities are celebrated by all departments with their own methods of presentation. Various activities related to respective branches are performed with great enthusiasm. The life in GEC is a self development period for a person to grow his thoughts with a very open environment and helping hand of our teachers.

Goa College of Engineering have different buildings for each department. There is no lab facilities in GCE.  There are 6 hostels in Goa College of Engineering 4 for boys and 2 for girls.

Goa College of Engineering, North Goa, is a government aided college. The professors in this college are highly qualified and are well experienced. GEC is a place to develop our mind and personal capabilities. I am glad to be a student of Goa College of Engineering.
